Context:
Within ENGIE South Africa, the S&EM business is in full development. The South African branch of S&EM aims to meet the energy needs of private offtakers across Southern Africa, by providing them with energy and supporting them in their optimization actions and transition towards a decarbonized production.
We are seeking a driven and ambitious Finance Graduate to join the Supply & Energy Management (S&EM) business unit. This role is designed for a high potential graduate who is interested in building a long-term career in the renewable energy and energy trading sector, within a global, market facing organisation.
The role will provide exposure to middle and back-office activities supporting ENGIE’s trading operations, with a focus on financial processes, commercial support, and operational discipline across the trading value chain. The position offers structured development, international exposure, and hands on experience within a sophisticated energy trading environment.
Key Focus Areas:
The Finance Graduate will support activities across the middle and back offices of the trading business, which may include:
• Financial and commercial support to trading and supply activities
• Exposure to trading settlements, reporting, controls, and performance monitoring
• Interaction with internal stakeholders across trading, risk, finance, and operations
• Supporting disciplined processes that underpin ENGIE’s energy trading activities
This role is developmental in nature and is intended to build a strong foundation in energy markets, trading support functions, and commercial finance within a renewable focused organisation.
International Exposure
The role will require travel to Paris and Brussels as part of structured training and integration with ENGIE’s global Supply & Energy Management teams. This international exposure is a core component of the role and will provide direct engagement with experienced S&EM professionals.
Candidate Profile:
• Be a recent finance or commerce graduate
• Demonstrate strong academic performance and commercial curiosity
• Be highly motivated, ambitious, and eager to learn
• Have a clear interest in renewable energy, energy markets, and trading environments
• Be comfortable working in a structured, performance driven, and analytical setting
