Purpose of the Job
The shared service center (“SSC”) of the finance function has been set up to provide services including accounting, reporting, compliance, etc. to O&M companies (the “Companies”) owned by ENGIE in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The SSC may potentially expand to cover new power and water desalination projects in the future to achieve synergies.

 

Finance & Commercial Manager would actively contribute to the achievement of the business objectives of the company and has an important role in maintaining its financial health. He / She will be responsible for managing financial controlling activities, accounting and tax, treasury, budgeting and developing long term business plans, and audit activities of the company. He / She together with the PGM will also be responsible for interactions / communication with external parties including Owner company, any governmental bodies, and financial institutions.

 

Reporting

  • Finance & Commercial Manager will report to the CFO SSC with dotted line to the Plant General Manager.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as the point of contact for all financial matters with respect to the company with external parties including but not limited to Project Co, Governmental bodies, and financial institutions.
  • Maintain coordination with Project Company CFO, the management team and other support functions.
  • Key role in financial management of the O&M agreement with the Owner.
  • Implement financial strategies aligned with the company's operational goals and long-term plans.
  • Maintain appropriate level of understanding of the business as necessary to discuss financial results with management, communicate best estimates/early warnings, as well as to respond quickly to ad hoc questions/requests.
  • Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic plans to the company's board of directors and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses to provide insight into the company's financial performance and health and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures which do not compromise the quality of services rendered by the company.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to financial and operational performance.
  • Manage the company's liquidity, including cash management and working capital optimization.
  • Analyze financial performance compared vs Budget & Last Year, prepare commentary on variances and recommend improvement actions.
  • Manage monthly close process including oversight of the journal entry process and reconciliations, and analysis of output to produce accurate timely financial information for inclusion in the monthly reporting process.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate month end shareholder reporting
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and medium-term business plans in conjunction with other departments.
  • Manage relevant statutory reporting obligations, including the annual financial audit, interface with the auditor etc.
  • Review monthly invoicing to the Project Company.
  • Prepare presentations for meetings and perform other ad-hoc finance projects as needed
  • Ensure compliance with the tax regulations, including accurate and timely filing of the various returns (annual, WHT, VAT, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws. Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective financial systems, controls, and policies to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability in financial operations.
  • Establish and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or financial mismanagement in line with ENGIE internal control framework.
  • Support / undertake the role of Company Secretary with the help of local counsel.
  • Support in the preparation and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the finance function and responsible for their continuous improvement.
  • Develop new processes or improve existing processes relating to financial planning/reporting
  • Support in the implementation of ERP and responsible for identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Stay updated with financial technology trends and identify opportunities to leverage automation and digital tools for financial operations.

 

Qualifications

  • University degree and/or professionally qualified Accountant is preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum ten (10)+ years' relevant experience in accounting and Finance.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties.
  • Strong-interpersonal skills and self-motivated
  • Deadline driven and ability to plan ahead to ensure deadlines are met. 
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience in SAP
  • Strong Microsoft office suite skills

 

Language

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

 

Location/ travel

Based in KSA with occasional travelling within the KSA to the Companies plant sites
