Purpose of the job:

This role has been created to support the recent restructure of our operational teams at Condate and Gorst.

This position will support the Regional Manager and Senior Maintenance Manager to ensure the efficient, safe,

and compliant operation of the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant(s). This leadership role requires a hands-on

approach to operations, maintenance, compliance, and team management, with a strong focus on maximising

plant uptime and energy output. The position holder will also provide back up for the CHP engineering team as

required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Key accountabilities:-

 

· Alongside the Regional Plant Manager and Senior Maintenance Manager to oversee daily operations of

the AD plant, ensuring optimal performance and energy production. In the absence of the RPM and

SMM, this role will deputise these roles including line management of the on site operational team.

 

· Overseeing the on site rota and monitoring overtime and on call hours and claims.

 

· Monitor and control plant processes using SCADA systems, including remote monitoring.

 

· Lead and support the operations team, including apprentices and any maintenance contractors.

 

· Investigate complex technical problems relating to critical plant. Analytical diagnosis of system and

asset faults.

 

· Root cause analysis and corrective action reports for all faults and breakdowns to be shared with the

Regional Plant Manager, Senior Maintenance Manager and Operations Director.

 

· Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations are adhered to, including RAMS and permit

compliance.

 

· Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and near-miss investigations.

· Maintain accurate records of feedstock deliveries, KPIs, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation. · Manage site cleanliness, fire systems, and housekeeping standards. · Liaise with external stakeholders including the Environment Agency, local councils, and the community. · Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and training programs. · Assist in stock control and maintenance store management. · Provide cover and reporting in the absence of the Regional Plant Manager.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications/Knowledge ¨ Relevant qualification in Engineering (e.g., Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND). ¨ Proven experience in process plant maintenance, particularly with pumps, conveyors, and SCADA systems. ¨ Supervisory or managerial experience in a similar operational environment ¨ Strong IT skills, including data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management. ¨ Full UK Driving Licence (essential for multi-site coverage when covering CHP engineer absence). ¨ Experience operating plant machinery (e.g., telehandler, tractors) is advantageous. ¨ Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practices. ¨ Excellent communication, leadership, and team development skills. ¨ Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to out-of-hours issues when required.
