As Assistant Plant Manager at our Gorst Energy facility, you will play a central role in delivering safe, efficient and sustainable operations. This is a hands-on leadership position where your engineering expertise and people skills combine to drive performance and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

 

Summary of what you will do

 

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the AD plant, maximising efficiency, uptime and biogas output using SCADA and control systems.
  • Coordinate team workloads and maintenance schedules to optimise productivity and minimise unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on planned and reactive maintenance of pumps, conveyors, gearboxes and electrical equipment.
  • Manage feedstock deliveries, storage and dietary planning to ensure consistent process performance.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture through site inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and liaise with regulatory bodies on all site obligations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, develop SOPs and support staff training and development.

 

What you will bring to the role

 

  • A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience in process plant operations and maintenance.
  • Supervisory or management experience within an industrial or energy environment.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and computerised maintenance management tools such as Fiix.
  • Strong analytical, IT and data reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • A full UK driving licence.

 

Location

 

Gorst Energy AD Facility, on site. This is a full-time, site-based role with a 45-hour working week including occasional weekends and on-call availability as required.
