Mission of the role:

Provide financial accounting services and data in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure that all assigned activities are completed on time and in accordance with the company's required standards. The execution and review of all accounting records will be carried out in accordance with international accounting standards (USGAAP, IFRS) or any other internal company policies or regulations.

 

Your impact:

As Accounting Specialist you will directly contribute to the objectives of the area by participating in key activities such as:

 

  • Accounting & Reporting:
    • Monitor the accounting closure of the companies under your responsibility, ensuring that all provisions, manual accounting entries, reclassifications, applications of accounts receivable and payable, including intercompany transactions, are recorded on time and with the required quality.
    • b) Review and clear all open items in the bank transit accounts, and follow up on supplier and customer invoices that are significantly overdue and pending collection or payment.
    • Collaborate with the energy production teams, suppliers, and customers to maintain current payments and collections for the services provided or received, ensuring timely and accurate recording to reflect the impact on the income statement, always conducting a parallel review to the budget.
    • Load accounting balances from SAP to Cartesis at month-end closing dates, ensuring that there are no discrepancies between the two systems. The publication of the Actual-SENA accounting package will be based on the closing calendars issued by the consolidations area, typically on WD+3.
    • Generate and complete the IFRS consolidation accounting packages in Cartesis according to the calendars issued by the consolidations area, which may be monthly or quarterly as applicable. All published packages must have prior review and approval from the GBU manager.
    • Perform reconciliations of intercompany figures to ensure all balances are matched by WD+2, including asset, liability, and income or expense accounts.
    • Prepare and present necessary reports for review with managers, plant teams, or financial planning teams of the business units, such as expense variance reports, monthly operations reports, etc.
    • Perform IFRS16 activities for the required business units, recording monthly accounting movements, adjustments, etc., sharing reports with SMEs and managers, and addressing necessary requirements.
    • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely manner, adhering to applicable policies and procedures.
    • Ensure the closure of cockpits (activity checklists) in SAP using T-code FCLOCO.
  • Audit:
    • Ensure the correct delivery of information to external and internal auditors, providing a comprehensive explanation of the process along with clear and easily understandable supporting documents.
    • Identify areas for improvement and create policies, operational procedures, and other supporting documentation within GBS.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Interact and maintain good communication with the entire team, both internal and external, creating a positive work environment, healthy working relationships, and assisting them when needed (across processes and departments).
    • Stay attentive to providing service to our business partner.
    • Maintain active communication with your immediate superior (N+1).
  • Business Support:
    • Responsible for ensuring that the expected service from the business units is met, always adding value to activities by reducing time, automating processes, or creating value-generating reports.
    • Support new projects and provide commercial support when required.
    • Additionally, collaborate significantly in the proper planning of activities to collectively achieve a good work-life balance within the different teams without compromising the quality of information.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in public accounting or financial reporting.
  • Languages: Advanced English.
  • Technical Experience: Tax, IFRS, NIF, Cash Flow, financial analysis, reporting to headquarters, estimates, derivatives management, capitalizations, impairment, intercompany transactions, SAP S/4Hana, Shared service center experience, Microsoft Office & Power BI.
