Tractebel Inc.’s (Canada) team is growing, we are seeking a Electro-Mechanical Expert with  to lead the design, optimization, and implementation of Hydro power plants systems and equipment. In this role you will ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and technical excellence while supporting the transition to a cleaner and more resilient future.

You will be based in the newly established Montréal office and report directly to the Managing Director based in Toronto. As part of Tractebel Inc.’s expansion in Canada, you will help build a local engineering team and bring TRACTEBEL Group’s global expertise to the Canadian market.

You will have access to a wide range of top-notch in-house training courses, for example, to enhance your knowledge.

This is a unique opportunity to join a solid company operating in a start-up mode in Canada, with the potential to quickly grow into a key leadership role.

 

Daily, you will lead key design decisions, optimizing complex Hydropower plant or pumped-storage systems and equipment. You will provide technical consultancy services to clients in the hydro power sector, review project deliverables (design reports, analysis reports, calculations, documents, drawings…) and take responsibility for the quality and technical integration of work being overseen. You will provide engineering support with the preparation of technical deliverables including design documents, technical specifications, test procedures, commissioning plans for systems, equipment and components. You will interface with other engineering disciplines to obtain data and resolve issues relevant to design. You’ll conduct technical meetings in front of peers, partners, clients or suppliers. You will lead, mentor, coach and train less experienced staff. You’ll participate in sales activities such as sales, support business development (meetings with potential Clients) and maintain effective working relationships with the European and Canada teams to ensure smooth, efficient running of activities within Tractebel Inc.

    • Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client
    • Develop a full understanding of, and align with, Tractebel governance and standard working practices, strategies & objectives
    • Participate in the recruitment for TRACTEBEL’s Québec office
    • Coach and mentor junior team members
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture

What You’ll Bring

 You will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field

  • You will have a minimum of twenty (20) years of related experience in Hydro power plant design and engineering where you:
    • Demonstrated experience in hydropower and pumped storage projects
    • Gained a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and industry best practices
    • Developed expertise in Hydropower plant regulations, standards, and related equipment
    • Developed a strong technical acumen with proficiency in Electro-Mechanical design software and engineering tools
    • A results-driven approach with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
    • Have developed effective communication and technical writing abilities to convey complex engineering concepts clearly
    •  Developed a collaborative mindset, working seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives
    • Carry a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and sustainability in Electro-Mechanical design
  • A licensed Professional Engineer (ing. or Eng.) with the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is highly desirable
  • Deep knowledge of the Québec power market and regulatory environment is an asset
  • You will have gained a sound knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines
  • You must be fluent in French
  • A strong proficiency in English is an asset

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 20% of the time
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position consists of 20% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions

Compensation

Salary Range: $145,200.00 – $222,525.00 CAD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state or provincial law, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
