What You Can Expect

At ENGIE, we are accelerating the energy transition by building utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America. Our team designs and delivers wind, solar, and energy storage facilities that power communities and protect our planet.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineering Advisor to lead substation and protection & control engineering across our utility-scale renewables portfolio. In this role, you won’t just review designs, you’ll define how projects are designed, built, and operated, while partnering across development, construction, and operations — making a direct impact on the clean energy infrastructure of tomorrow.

What You Will Do

  • Lead development of substation and protection & control technical specifications for detailed design and construction across wind, solar, and storage projects
  • Manage external engineering firms and EPC subcontractors to achieve the highest standards of engineering quality and project execution
  • Direct design reviews of high voltage substations and transmission protection schemes, including relay one-lines, three-line diagrams, ground grids, and wiring diagrams
  • Develop and update internal engineering standards in collaboration with Operations Engineering to drive continuous improvement and standardization
  • Coordinate engineering design efforts with EPC partners and owners’ engineers, reviewing submittals and ensuring alignment with project requirements
  • Support procurement in running RFPs and managing long-lead material acquisition such as main power transformers and HV breakers
  • Stay current on technologies, regulatory conditions, and market requirements across ERCOT, MISO, PJM, and CAISO

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, with a power systems focus
  • Minimum seven (7) years of direct experience in high voltage (138kV and above) electrical substation engineering and design
  • Proficiency in protective relay coordination and settings calculations for HV and EHV transmission systems
  • Experience with electrical system analysis software such as ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, or PSLF
  • Knowledge of engineering standards including (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI), and reliability frameworks (NERC/FERC)
  • Deep experience in protective relays (SEL, GE) and advanced power system analysis and relay coordination tools (ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, PSS®E, PSLF)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines, vendors, and project teams
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus, not a requirement

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy and is not eligible for remote working
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
