As a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, you'll help ensure the dependable generation of energy that supports local communities while contributing to a more sustainable future.
In this role, you'll maintain and troubleshoot complex electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across plant and satellite facilities. Your expertise will directly support plant safety, equipment reliability, operational performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You'll inspect, test, repair, and optimize equipment including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), relays, breakers, electrical disconnects, rotating equipment controls, UPS and battery systems, and related electrical assets. You'll identify and resolve electrical and control system issues, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, and specialized contractors to support safe and efficient plant operations.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate capital project work from pre-planning to finalized commissioning
- Work with actuators, analyzers, pumps, and variable frequency drives (VFDs) to support safe and reliable operations
- Support and maintain low-voltage control systems and instrumentation
- Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control logic diagrams to diagnose issues and implement solutions
- Monitor automated operation and fine-tune system performance as needed
- Upgrade legacy control systems by retrofitting PLCs, HMIs, networks to integrate new functions
- Identify obsolete components and recommend new products and solutions
- Continuously expand PLC programming knowledge and analytical skills
- Utilize a CMMS for writing/completing work orders with notes to document work performed
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum educational level of a High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems in industrial, utility, power generation, or military environments (e.g., Navy propulsion/electrical systems, Army power generation, Air Force utilities, Marine Corps engineering roles)
- You have experience applying regulations and guidelines of local, state, and national electrical and safety codes
- Ability to complete written reports in the (MMS) Maintenance Management System and communicate technical details and safety concerns or instructions verbally with other technicians, vendors, students staff and the general public
Additional Details
- You must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicles while on campus
- You must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- This role requires daily attendance at worksite
- Must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of equipment and portable radio communication
- Capable of frequently standing; walking; balancing; sitting; climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks and the like as required); kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting (min. 50 lbs)
- Capable of performing repetitive motions as required
- Required to have eyesight corrected at 20/40 to accurately read and interpret such as but not limited to instruments, gauges, and manuals
- Must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to half and full-face respirators, fall protection equipment, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses
- The position consists of 85% work indoors and 15% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
Compensation
Hourly Range: $37.00 - $56.83 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
