The role holder is responsible for ensuring that water storage tanks are properly cleaned, disinfected, and maintained to ensure the safety and quality of stored water. The role involves performing periodical cleaning, conducting water quality tests, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and communicating with clients about tank maintenance needs. - Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of water tanks to remove dirt, algae, sediment, and other contaminants.
- Clean internal tank surfaces, including walls and floors, to maintain hygienic water storage conditions.
- Use appropriate tools and cleaning equipment, such as brushes, scrapers, vacuums, and pressure washers, to ensure thorough cleaning.
- Carry out the disinfection and sanitization of water tanks using approved chemicals (e.g., chlorine or other disinfectants) to kill harmful bacteria and pathogens.
- Ensure proper chemical dosing and allow adequate time for disinfection before the tank is refilled with water.
- Verify and monitor residual chlorine levels or other disinfectant concentrations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Inspect water tanks for any signs of damage, wear, or contamination (e.g., cracks, leaks, or rust) and report or recommend necessary repairs.
- Assess tank fittings, valves, pipes, and other components for proper function and identify potential maintenance needs.
- Perform routine checks on water tank systems to ensure they are functioning as intended.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring all procedures are in compliance with local standards and regulations related to water storage and hygiene.
- Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and cleaning tools in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Wear and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and masks during cleaning and disinfection procedures.
- Monitor and maintain records of water quality results, cleaning dates, and disinfection procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of all tank cleaning, disinfection, and inspection activities, including dates, methods used, and water quality results.
- Ensure all service reports and documentation are properly filled out and submitted in a timely manner.
- Keep inventory of cleaning supplies, disinfectants, and equipment used during tank cleaning procedures.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations, such as the need for urgent water tank cleaning due to contamination or equipment failure.
- Provide emergency disinfection services to ensure safe drinking water.

- Proven experience as a water tank cleaner/ operator/ technician or in a similar role.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with water treatment and disinfection methods is preferred.
- Understanding of safe and effective disinfection methods, including chemical dosing, water treatment protocols, and water quality standards.
- Ability to operate cleaning and disinfection equipment, pressure washers, and water quality testing tools.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform manual tasks related to tank cleaning and maintenance.
