About the job:
The Process Safety Management (PSM) lead for Generation International (GI) reports to the Head of Health and Safety for Generation International and is responsible for ensuring effective process safety management. This role involves developing local PSM champions, coordinating process safety network meetings and conducting hazard analysis to effectively mitigate risk across the GI fleet. The PSM lead will develop and implement training programs, monitor process safety performance, investigate safety incidents, and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence. The role will be based in Dubai. Frequent travel across the GI perimeter, including GCC, KSA, Africa, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Canada and Australia can be anticipated to support assets on-site.

Key activities and competencies
Strategic:
- Develop effective process safety management across the GI fleet.
- Develop the risk profile of the fleet and ensure suitable actions are taken to mitigate risk
- Relay process safety knowledge and lessons learned throughout Generation International at leadership, management, and employee levels.
- Promote process safety awareness at regional, country, and asset levels through campaigns and regular trainings.
- Enhance collaboration on process safety between assets, countries, and business units.
Operational:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and specifications, Engie Group Rules, Standards, Procedures, and Guidance Notes, particularly GR09 H&S in Industrial Projects, GEN PSM Fundamentals procedure and relevant process safety elements of the Operational Excellence framework.
- Coordinate process safety network meetings and provide necessary input, data sharing, or reports and regularly liaise with GBU PS Champion.
- Conduct and/or coordinate Process Hazard Risk Assessments (PHRA) — including BowTie assessments, reviews, workshops, and studies — and ensure effective tracking and timely close-out of actions.
- Ensure compliance with the GI Process Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment governance document including the identification and management of Safety Critical Elements (SCE).
- Organize, lead, or participate in project safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, peer reviews, audits, and inspections at O&M and industrial sites, as appropriate.
- Ensure project activities comply with the requirements of GR09 H&S in Industrial Projects. Review and approve construction and project derogation requests.
- Support business development in reinforcing the management of process safety throughout the project life cycle.
- Maintain current and available process safety information.
- Ensure that process safety documentation is up-to-date and reflects site reality.
- Coordinate root cause analysis promoting the use of TapRoot methodology and develop or advise on action plans to prevent recurrence as appropriate.
- Ensure Process Safety Events (PSEs) are reported in a timely manner and recorded in the One Safety Tool (OST).
Organisational:
- Develop PSM training matrices at regional, country, and asset levels and implement training programs on process safety.
- Ensure that staff with process safety responsibilities are competent to perform their roles, particularly PSM champions.
- Establish process safety objectives, performance targets, and action plans at the appropriate organizational levels.
Planning & Delivery of Work:
- Further develop and maintain the GI dashboard displaying key PSM KPIs.
- Monitor and evaluate process safety performance regularly, identifying key trends and taking approporate actions to mitigate risk.
Decision Making:
- Review and approve construction and project derogation requests.
- Act as a lead or participate as a member of the investigation team or committee for process safety events.
- Support the effective management of major process safety risks.
- Take approraite actions to mitigate risks.
Working with Others:
- Ensure asset PSM champions are nominated and developed in compliance with GEN PSM Fundamentals procedure requirements.
- Work in conjunction with the Industrial Projects H&S Manager to review and approve construction and project derogation requests.
- Relay process safety knowledge and lessons learned throughout Generation International at leadership, management, and employee levels.
Leadership and Management
- Serve as the subject matter expert for process safety within GI.
- Promote process safety awareness and competency development.
- Lead or participate in investigations and safety reviews.
- Ensure Process Safety Events (PSEs) are reported in a timely manner and recorded in the One Safety Tool (OST).

Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Recognized engineering degree or science qualification and PSM qualification (NEBOSH Certificate in Process Safety Management or equivalent as a minimum)
Experience:
- At Minimum of 10 years’ experience in process safety management with exposure to Industrial Safety Management
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understand industrial processes and identify potential hazards
- Develop clear and comprehensive safety protocols
- Have a thorough understanding of current PSM requirements
- Strong investigative skills to determine the causes of accidents and develop prevention strategies
- Analytical thinking to solve complex problems
- Good leadership skills to influence and impact locally and globally
- Effective communication skills to train staff and relay process safety knowledge
