Your mission   

Within the Business Area Gas, Energy, Nuclear (BA GEN) of Tractebel, the Director of NPPs Projects is a member of the Management Committee (MCOM) of the Business Stream Large Nuclear Infrastructures (BS LNI). He/She is the Unit executive who oversees ongoing and future projects and reports to the Head of the Business Stream. 
The Director of NPPs Projects leads and coordinates Tractebel strategic involvement in the design and construction of large scale nuclear power plants focusing on France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This includes overseeing project management excellence and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering services in the capacity of Owner’s Engineer, Architect Engineer, and/or Designer. The role ensures nuclear and industrial safety as overriding priorities, regulatory and ethical compliance, and client satisfaction while leveraging global engineering capabilities to enhance competitiveness and profitability.
 
Your key responsibilities
 
-Strategic Project Leadership

  • Define and implement Tractebel strategic approach to NPPs construction projects in collaboration with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Represent Tractebel in steering committees, regulatory discussions, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Ensure alignment with ENGIE group policies, national energy strategies and international nuclear standards.
  • Act operationally as Sponsor, Project Director, and/or Project Manager on strategic and important projects.

-Project & Portfolio Management

  • Manage portfolios of projects, ensuring delivery on scope, on time, within budget, ensuring client satisfaction and respect of the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Implement project governance, risk management, and financial performance monitoring frameworks in collaboration with operational performance and support teams.
  • Ensure coordination across multiple sites and countries, leveraging Tractebel international footprint.

-Global Delivery Optimization

  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Supervise the delivery of project management and engineering services including Owner’s or Architect Engineer missions, basic and/or detailed design, safety analysis, licensing support, procurement and contract management support, and site execution follow-up.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of Tractebel services and deliverables according to nuclear safety and client requirements together with the technical departments or Métiers.
  • Interact closely with Tractebel technical department or Métiers, ensure strong proximity and pro-active communication on the need of the projects (staffing, competences, tools) and on the return of experience (success, difficulties, lesson’s learned).
  • Promote innovation and digital engineering practices (e.g. AI, BIM, digital twin, systems engineering).
  • Strategically utilize Tractebel engineering centers in Romania and India to support design, analysis, and documentation activities.
  • Integrate all Tractebel capabilities into project delivery to improve cost-efficiency, scalability, and responsiveness.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer, quality control, and alignment between local project teams and global delivery centers.

-Commercial Activities

  • Work closely with the Business Development & Sales teams to achieve the Yearly Business Booked objectives and to prepare the Mid-Term Plan.
  • Establish a closed cooperation with the centralized Business Development team to ensure seamless transfer of opportunities from identification stage till bidding stage, in cooperation with Sales team;
  • Perform product specialized Business Development mission in some regions, on some client’s accounts, in cooperation/communication with Business Development & Sales teams.
  • Promote and develop opportunities together with other Business Streams and Business Areas as One Tractebel.

-Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships and proximity with clients, government agencies, national nuclear safety authorities, and industry partners.
  • Provide strategic advice and technical leadership to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
    Represent Tractebel in industry forums, conferences, and public consultations.
  • Promote and boost Tractebel image and value proposition in collaboration with internal and external communications departments.

-Team Leadership & Development

  • Promote and continuously improve nuclear safety culture and team spirit.
  • Promote a culture of project management excellence, systematically improving processes, tools, and competences .
  • Lead and mentor multi-cultural teams composed of team leaders, project directors, project managers, project engineers, and project assistants.
  • Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, project management excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, development plans, career plans, and succession planning in coordination with HR and other departments.

-Management Committee

  • Collaborate with the Head of Business Stream and other MCOM members and consult with them on important decisions.
  • Keep the Head of Business Stream and other MCOM members apprised of significant events with Clients.
  • Support the Head of Business Stream in some transversal and global activities across the Business Stream when requested;
  • Contribute to the animation of the MCOM and to the synergies between the different activities inside the Business Stream.

 We would love to hear from people with  
 

  • Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in nuclear infrastructure projects, ideally in roles such as Owner’s Engineer, Architect Engineer, or Designer.
  • Proven experience in managing large, complex, and international engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in people management and team leadership.
  • Deep understanding of nuclear safety, licensing, and construction standards (e.g., RCC, ASME, IAEA).

 
Who you are   

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English and French, mastering of Dutch is an asset.
  • Experience working with or managing global engineering teams is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work in different locations across France, UK, Netherlands, and Belgium.
