GBS is the ENGIE’s Support Function operational arm. We are a transversal entity that is at the center of many operational processes for which we have tons of DATA flowing into our hands.

To strengthen our DATA capabilities in GBS, we’re setting up a GBS DATA Engine, made of key DATA Experts who will cover the whole spectrum of DATA value chain, from ingestion, transformation to insightful visuals for the business (including Build (project) and Run).

 

This exciting job is key in the DATA driven approach that GBS aims.

 

This position is two-fold. On one hand, as a Project Manager (50%) you take end-to-end responsibility in the project/initiative. He/She steers several stakeholders in the organization (products owners, data officers, business stakeholders, operations) in GBS organization and/or corporate level to deliver/achieve the objective. The ideal candidate has demonstrated project management experience and achievements in the DATA field.

On the other hand, as a Team Leader (50%), you have demonstrated experience in leading teams in the DATA Field, ideally with a previous hands-on experience in the data chain/ecosystem and tooling.

 

This job is based in Bucharest (GBS Romania), with 3 days/week on site minimum according to our hybrid model.

 

Responsibilities:

As Project Manager in the DATA field, you act as central point of contact for your portfolio of projects/initiatives for which you are responsible end-to-end. You define the needs withe business, narrow down the specs, and, once validated, you deliver, in time, in budget, in scope and with the expected quality. You connect with experts, peers and stakeholders to achieve your goals, manage risks and find solutions. You report on a regular basis on the project status, covering budgets, planning, scope, risks & mitigations.

Your responsibilities will be as follows: (non-exhaustive)

  • Lead and manage data projects/initiatives, from kickoff and requirements gathering through deployment, closure, and go to run phase, in an agile and/or waterfall approach
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including data engineers, BI developers, analysts, and external partners
  • Define project scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Define, organize, optimize, and manage project/initiative planning, and resource allocations, using standard project management tools
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues; proactively troubleshoot to ensure timelines and quality standards are met
  • Facilitate regular status meetings and reporting
  • Ensure high standards for data integrity, data privacy, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle, and other key aspects of our DATA Operating Model
  • Conduct regular post-mortem review, as a continuous improvement approach

 

As Team lead, you coach, manage, supports a team of data experts to ensure the best delivery possible. You keep your people informed and manage them on a daily basis. You define and support, the training path in accordance with your GBS strategy.

Your responsibilities will be as follows: (non-exhaustive)

  • Direct Management of 5 to 7 people
  • Set SMART objectives for your team and ensure proper workload balance
  • Ensure strategic alignment with competence map and people development in accordance
  • Day to day support of the team while fostering autonomy, initiative, high quality delivery, professionalism, and innovation

 

Desired Education, Expertise & Skills:

We’re looking for an experienced Data professional and team leader who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and project management skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • At least 5 years of experience delivering projects in the data domain
  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience within data or analytics teams
  • Previous exposure to one or more of the following functions: Finance, Procurement, Marketing, HR, Real Estate, or IT
  • Proven experience working in an international and multicultural environment
  • Solid track record in managing end-to-end data and analytics projects, with strong exposure to IT infrastructure
  • Broad, hands-on experience across the data lifecycle (ETL, cloud platforms, BI tools, analytics)
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Copilot
  • Experience in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across geographies
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes, manage expectations, and resolve conflicts constructively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language
  • Familiarity with documentation, reporting, and risk management practices
  • Previous experience in data governance, data privacy, and compliance is a strong plus
  • Exposure to data architecture, data quality, FinOps, and SecOps is considered an advantage

 

Nice to Have:

  • Hands-on experience with data tools such as Power BI, Dataiku, AWS, or Databricks
  • Familiarity with LLM/ML models and AI-based data solutions
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory); French is a strong plus
