Data Lead- AMEA & India  

Overview 

 

The Data Lead for the AMEA (Asia, Middle East, and Africa) and India region is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing data management, data governance, data analytics, and data strategy initiatives across the region. Reporting to the CIO of AMEA & India, the Data Lead role will work closely with the GBUs (Global Business Units) and support functions to ensure effective and ethical use of data to drive business growth, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making. This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in data science, data architecture, and data governance, as well as strong leadership and communication skills. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Data Strategy and Governance 

 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with Group data strategy and business objectives and growth plans of AMEA & India region. 

  • Implement Group Data Policy across AMEA & India region.  

  • Establish data governance policies to ensure data quality, privacy, and security across all data assets. 

  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to harmonize data standards and practices across the AMEA organization. 

  • Oversee development and maintenance of data architecture and infrastructure, ensuring scalability and robustness. 

  • Monitor regulatory compliance related to data privacy and security, and ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations. 

 

Data Management 

 

  • Lead design, implementation, and management of data management systems and processes, including data warehousing, data lakes, and data integration platforms. 

  • Ensure the accurate and timely collection, storage, and retrieval of data from diverse sources across the AMEA region. 

  • Implement best practices for data lifecycle management, including data retention, archiving, and disposal. 

  • Managing the regional data team, including data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers, ensuring that they are aligned with the organization's data strategy and goals. 

  • Ensuring that the region's data is collected, stored, and analyzed in compliance with data privacy laws and regulations. 

  • Identifying and prioritizing data-related opportunities and risks within the region, and collaborating with other executives and business leaders to develop data-driven solutions. 

  • Fostering a data culture within the region by educating and training employees on effective data use and promoting interdepartmental collaboration. 

  • Ensure the digital & data integration of new acquired companies and the data & digital disintegration of sold companies 

 

Data Analytics and Insights 

 

  • Drive development and deployment of advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions to support data-driven decision-making. 

  • Lead a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers to generate actionable insights from data, enabling business leaders to make informed decisions. 

  • Foster a culture of data literacy and data-driven innovation across the organization. 

 

Leadership and Collaboration 

 

  • Provide visionary leadership to the data team, setting clear goals, expectations, and performance metrics. 

  • Collaborate with senior executives and business leaders within the GBUs and support functions to identify data-driven opportunities and challenges. 

  • Collaborate with the entities Data Leads to ensure consistency in data policies, standards, and procedures across the organization. 

  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the data field, and identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies to improve data-driven decision-making in the region.  

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry experts to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies. 

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.  

  • At least 10 years of experience in data management, data analytics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role. 

  • Proven track record of developing and executing data strategies that drive business value. 

  • In-depth knowledge of data governance, data architecture, data security, and regulatory compliance. 

  • Strong expertise in data analytics, machine learning, and AI. 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.

  • Leadership skills: An effective leader who can manage and motivate a team of data professionals and collaborate effectively with other executives and business leaders. 

  • Communication skills: Ability to communicate complex data-related concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. 

  • Change management skills: Ability to manage and lead organizational change related to data strategy, policies, and processes. 

  • Business acumen: Have a strong understanding of business and industry in which the organization operates, and ability to use data to drive business outcomes.
