As Operations & Maintenance Technician II, in Decatur, AL, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable start-up, operation, and continuous monitoring and maintenance of packaged boilers, chillers, air compressors, and associated auxiliary balance-of-plant equipment as directed by management. This role will include performing selective maintenance on various plant equipment, while also training and qualifying into the role of Relief Operator, ultimately conducting all Central Utility Plant operations in support of senior shift operators. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager, with dotted-line supervision from the Maintenance Manager.
You will:
- Collaborate and have a team-minded attitude, suited for an environment where adaptability and cross-training equip members to contribute to the success of the operation
- Perform preventive, predictive, and repair maintenance work tasks on plant equipment; diagnosing equipment problems, reporting abnormal conditions to management, and preparing detailed work requests for plant improvements
- Deliver detailed and accurate monitoring of processes and equipment, including conducting scheduled plant audits, water chemistry testing, and preparation of shift logs, work orders, and Health Safety & Environmental reports
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years of relevant experience and/or training; licenses, endorsements; or an equivalent combination of education and competent technical abilities in one of the following crafts: Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Electrician, or Instrument & Control Technician
- Collaborative and cooperative team-minded attitude, suited for an environment where adaptability and cross-training equip members to contribute to the success of the operation
- Proficiency in using and adopting computers, computer software and technical electronics, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as dedicated metering and instrumentation hardware
Additional Details
- This role requires in-person daily attendance at the worksite for extended hours over rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
- Must meet, ongoing behavioral and background security requirements to maintain badge clearance for entering the facility
- Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license to operate company vehicles
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- This position consists of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
- Dependable and trustworthy, capable of analytical decision-making and working autonomously with limited supervision in the safe, proper, and efficient operation of all machinery and related equipment
- Ability to deliver detailed and accurate monitoring of processes and equipment, including conducting scheduled plant audits, water chemistry testing, and preparation of shift logs, work orders, and Health Safety & Environmental reports
Compensation
Hourly Range: $32.80 – $43.75 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
