ENGINEER, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE

3. JOB DESCRIPTION :

a. Broad Function Summary

• Responsible for executing and supervising the boiler operation and maintenance (O&M) activities, its related mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment, and associated systems, complying with the statutory and health-safety-environmental (HSE) requirements.

• Oversee, supervise and guide group of boiler man to perform day-to-day boilers O&M activities.

• Provide technical analysis and trouble shooting skills in resolving any abnormal conditions of the equipment / machine.

• Responsible for executing / supervising the entire steam system life cycle and related O&M services activities in order to achieve the O&M service levels, performances, availability in accordance to the signed agreement and to ensure the customer satisfaction.

• To monitor, control and supervise sub-contractor's supplier's interventions and to log-in, report abnormalities, events and service activities performed on the boiler sites to his/her immediate superior.

• Responsible, with the support of his/her immediate superior, for ensuring the approved business plan, technical and financial performance are achieved according to the approved plans.

• Responsible of monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing the steam system performance, including energy sales, energy production and O&M activities with respect of statutory and company health, safety, and environment measures.

• Responsible for continuous improvement of steam system performance, best practices in a proactive manner.

• Responsible for boiler O&M Standard Operation Procedure, Method of Statement, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessment and others documentation needed or when required.

• Responsible for daily optimization of the steam boiler operation with respect to plant load conditions.

• Coordinate and monitor boiler water or feedwater quality with water treatment chemical supplier. Ensure water treatment operations are in place c/w the water analysis data will be recorded in the log sheet.

• Coordinate and liaise with DOSH officers in the boiler and steam header JKKP inspection.

• Implement maintenance control system to achieve effective and productive maintenance of the machine.

• Assist, track, monitor and prepare yearly operation and maintenance expenses budget.

• To assist in machinery and equipment maintenance, modification, installation and upgrading project.

• To perform any additional tasks that may from time to time be assigned/given by the company management.

• To assist in the operation of others utilities/facilities system if required.

b. Duties and Responsibilities

○ Monitor and analyze Solar PV Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring its accuracy and to ensure assets availability and are operating at optimum efficiency and are in line with approved business plan.

○ Manage, schedule / supervise O&M Service Provider service activities executed on the boiler sites are in accordance with:

  • Operation and Maintenance Agreement (OMA) KPIs and within the related schedule
  • Compliance with the statutory and the health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements
  • Compliance with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) requirements and warranties

○ Initiate, plan and provide timely boiler monthly and annual energy production report for both internal and submission to the customer sites as well as the necessary reports to the relevant authorities.

○ Identify red flags / problems, respond to emergency calls, and develop corrective action plans, in liaison with the O&M Service Provider and direct superior.

○ Maintain good relationship between clients, O&M Service Provider, relevant authorities or with other stakeholders.

○ Perform studies for the feasibility and propose productivity, technical improvements for the boiler sites concerning the overall system performance, O&M, HSE processes, contingencies, and emergency plans.

○ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and associated periodic meetings.

○ Organize, monitor and control the collection and ensure proper updated of historical records for the HSE performances, steam output generation data, measures and performances, for the O&M services activities and interventions, as well as KPI records by using the monitoring systems, Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) or any other required recording-reporting tools.

○ Keep abreast of the latest development in Boiler O&M guidelines, statutory requirement and best practices developed by ENGIE, relevant authorities.

○ Any other ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.


4. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :

External: Customers, equipment manufacturers, engineering and companies' contractors, suppliers, services providers and authorities.

Internal: ENGIE Services Malaysia HQ or ENGIE Services regional offices, RE Project Management & Execution, O&M Operations Teams.


5. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

○ Responsible for establishing, monitoring, reporting and analyzing entire steam system KPIs.

○ Responsible for the coordination, organization, monitoring, control and execution of all maintenance repair or works on the boiler sites, within the scheduled timeframe and in compliance with statutory, company, PPA and customer HSE regulations & policies.

○ Responsible for producing steam generation reports and billing.

○ Responsible for managing and monitoring engagement of outsourced service providers activities are within the budgeted costs and scheduled timeframe and in compliance with statutory, company and customer HSE regulations & policies.

7. PROFILE SPECIFICATIONS

a. Main Data

Malaysian National.

b. Education

Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Certificate of competency as Grade 1 or Grade 2 Steam Engineer.

c. Experience: Sector, Field & Duration

Experience over 3 years in field for the coordination and execution of Operation & Maintenance, technical services for steam boiler systems.

d. Specific Skills

Knowledge about boiler systems design and/or operations & maintenance, computer energy modeling as well as presentation: Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, Project Management software and computer aided design software (i.e. AutoCAD or etc).

e. Personality

Communicative, active personality, result driven, analytical and team spirit person.

Numerate, meticulous and analytical with strong reporting skills and conscientious with follow-up.

Capable of initiatives in the technical field.

Taste for service and customers relationship.

Demonstrated skills in listening, time management and multi-tasking in a rapid changing work environment.

f. Languages, IT Skills and Others

Ability to work (speak, read, write) fluently in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Ability to use computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project and Design Software.

Having a valid Class D driving license.
