You will work closely with the VP of Credit and partners in commercial, legal, risk, trading, and origination to assess structured gas and power transactions, including power purchase agreements. In this senior individual-contributor role, you will take independent ownership of complex credit matters, develop practical risk solutions, and help the wholesale credit team strengthen its technical capabilities. Your work will balance commercial objectives with prudent risk mitigation, portfolio discipline, and enterprise credit standards.

  • Lead strategic credit risk assessments for structured gas and power transactions, including PPAs, by evaluating transaction economics, counterparty strength, collateral structures, contractual protections, and portfolio impacts.
  • Develop commercially practical credit solutions that support business growth while maintaining disciplined exposure controls, risk appetite alignment, and appropriate governance.
  • Validate and challenge potential future exposure methodologies and calculations prepared by the risk team, identifying results that require further explanation or review.
  • Lead negotiations of credit provisions in commodity, bilateral trading, and structured transaction agreements in partnership with legal, commercial, and risk teams.
  • Partner with the VP of Credit to translate business growth strategy into credit execution priorities and decision-ready recommendations.
  • Improve credit committee and management reporting by overseeing materials, validating portfolio insights, and presenting credit considerations to senior leaders.
  • Provide technical leadership through coaching, constructive feedback, and hands-on guidance to wholesale credit team members and rotational analysts.
  • Monitor market credit events and portfolio trends to identify emerging counterparty, sector, and market risks.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in which you completed courses in Accounting, Finance or any related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years in wholesale energy credit risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience independently evaluating complex wholesale energy transactions, including structured power transactions and PPAs.
  • Experience assessing counterparty creditworthiness, collateral structures, contractual protections, portfolio impacts, and potential future exposure.
  • Experience negotiating credit provisions in commodity, bilateral trading, or structured transaction agreements.
  • Ability to develop clear, commercially practical recommendations that align business objectives with credit risk standards.
  • Ability to communicate complex credit considerations clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to colleagues without direct people-management authority.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Capital IQ or a similar credit-scoring tool and familiarity with CubeLogic or a similar credit-monitoring system.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments accurately and within required timelines.
