Context:
Within Supply & Energy Management GBU, Gas Supply & Trading (GST) operates at the forefront of the CWE gas industry, managing ENGIE's long-term gas contracts, optimizing gas storage and transportation capacities, and supplying gas to both B2B and B2C clients. Our platform serves as a pivotal hub, navigating the complexities of the European gas markets while driving innovation and growth.
In this Organization, E.T.F.M. Trading Desk is in charge of
- Managing the market positions coming from Gas Upstream contracts in NWE (excluding LNG).
- Quoting options and more generally all necessary needs for flexibility rising from the activities of the Gas Cluster.
- Following the Gas markets on options and exotic products and marking volatility and exotic parameters.
- Developing Machine Learning tools for position management improvement.
Role:
As a Junior Quantitative Trader, you will be responsible for:
- Performance Monitoring: Ensuring the management of trading activities through a strict follow-up and a deep understanding of risks and P&L withing the approved risk mandate
- Feature Engineering/Signal generation: Expanding the repository of usable raw signals.
- Machine Learning application: Supporting the assessment of ML signals.
- Bactesting & Evaluation: Assisting in filtering valid signals.
- Documentation & Reporting: Making the results actionable and transparent for the trading team
This is a front-office role, working in a dynamic trading floor environment and in close collaboration with other trading desks.
Hard skills:
- Scientific Background: Degree in Engineering or master’s degree in a quantitative field or in finance, or PhD.
- Experience: Experience in energy and gas markets is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Experience in coding, Machine Learning or Financial mathematics is necessary.
Soft skills:
- Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to synthesize information, with attention to detail.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with quantitative and non-quantitative people.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Personal Attributes: Rigorous, curious, eager to learn, creative, reliable, and resilient under pressure.
