Context

Within the One B2B Operational Area, ENGIE is strengthening its Environmental Market Access Desk to support the growth of its environmental market activities. The Expertise Center Market Analysis and the Business Platform Clients are therefore recruiting an Environmental Market Analyst.

The analyst will join a team dedicated to providing ENGIE’s professional clients with in-depth energy market analysis, covering topics ranging from macroeconomics to CO₂ emissions. The role will also contribute directly to the development of EnergyScan, ENGIE’s market intelligence platform (energyscan.engie.com).


Main Responsibilities

  • Produce market and regulatory analyses, reports, and data visualizations on environmental products:

    • Power and biomethane Guarantees of Origin (GOs)

    • Carbon offsets

    • Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs, I-RECs)

  • Provide insight and advice to clients and internal stakeholders on trends in Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) and Carbon Credit markets, including their implications for hedging and investment strategies.

  • Develop and maintain supply/demand balances and price forecasting models for EACs and Carbon Credits.

  • Contribute actively to teamwork and knowledge sharing within the Market Analysis group.


Profile

Education and Professional Background

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the analysis of European power and biomethane GOs, international/US RECs, and/or Carbon Credit markets.

  • Previous experience in a trading environment or in commodity markets is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of environmental markets and related commodity markets (certificates, power, gas).

  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Proficiency in Python and ability to work with multiple IT tools.

Soft Skills

  • Ability to work with rigor, autonomy, and creativity.

  • Strong team spirit and collaboration skills.

  • Clear and effective communication, both oral and written.

  • Capacity to work in a multicultural environment and manage deadlines.

  • Interest in energy, economics, and financial markets is desirable.
