PRESENTATION OF RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE

 

RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE (RGE) is ENGIE’s business entity responsible for the development of renewable and low carbon gases[1] production in Europe. Since 2015, ENGIE has been developing biomethane production activity. At the beginning of 2023, its portfolio includes 26 plants in operation, of which 19 are self-operated, with a total production capacity of 550 GWh/y @100% and a development pipeline of 1.4 TWh/y.

ENGIE is determined to become a leading player in 1G[2] biomethane in Europe. The ambition is to grow rapidly to reach 10 TWh/y of biomethane production capacity by 2030.

In Europe, outside France, biomethane production projects are already under development in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Italy. Spain, Portugal and Romania are other countries of interest. The strategy is to develop projects, greenfield and through M&A, to inject biomethane into the gas grid or to produce bioLNG.

POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION

Under the responsibility of the Head of Engineering, the Discipline Manager Civil and Building reports functionally to the Engineering Director.

 

ACTIVITIES

The Discipline Manager Civil and Building is the main technical interface with projects civil and building contractors design team.

 

The Discipline Manager Civil and Building is responsible for the following activities:

 

  • Ensure the production of Civil engineering deliverables for RGE projects (guide drawings etc…),
  • Review and comment and validate contractors’ and suppliers’ design deliverables
  • Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines, specifies and controls.
  • Follow up during construction, supporting project team with site queries, interface management and change management
  • Ensure the industrialization of RGE projects and engineering reliability throughout the project life cycle :
  • Ensure capitalization of lessons learned and continuous improvement of Civil engineering standards and practices
  • Depending of the Team size development and project’s needs, the Discipline Manager Civil and Building could have to produce himself all types of tasks related to project Civil and building engineering
  • Monitor and guarantee the Civil and Building design quality management.

 

Set up and manage the Civil team

  • Under the responsibility of the Head of Engineering, recruit and integrate Civil engineers - in collaboration with HR team.
  • Manage the Civil team across the different engineering offices
  • Ensure the development of team competencies, in coordination with HR & Talents, through training, work experience and career development

 

LOCATION

La Défense (92) France, travel to other engineering offices and to construction sites may be required (in Europe)

MAIN INTERFACES

Apart from the Engineering team, the Discipline Manager Civil will interact with, among others:

  • Management of RGE
  • RGE teams Europe: Project Management, Industrialization, Business Development, Operation, Procurement …
  • Suppliers and contractors
  • Other Group Engineering teams, Group Corporate : Knowledge Management Team …

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

The Discipline Manager Civil shall have the following competences and experience:

Degree and experience:

  • M.S. degree in Civil or equivalent
  • At least 15 years’ experience in Civil engineering positions in energy / water/waste treatment / industry in an EPC contractor company
  • Experience with working in a project-oriented culture, based on collaborative, agile and innovative ways of working
  • Relevant experience in construction site field experience.

 

Languages:

  • Fluent in English and French
  • other languages are a plus

  • Leadership

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship/cooperation skills
  • Very familiar with Engineering entities / matrix organization
