Context:
The applicant will join the "Digital and Data Accelerator" (DDA) team. The primary objective of this team is to develop high-quality data products for our clients, focusing on critical areas such as fundamental data collection, historical asset data compilation, and production and consumption forecasting models. This initiative plays a vital role in optimizing resource allocation and advancing decarbonization efforts.
The DDA team engages in various strategic activities, including the development and rationalization of data projects, ensuring robust data governance, and maintaining high data quality standards. We collaborate closely with the GEMS business unit to enhance data utilization efficiency. Furthermore, the team is tasked with structuring and piloting the data strategy within GEMS, reinforcing governance practices, and implementing a cohesive data architecture.
Role:
Working hand in hand with business and IT teams, the Data Engineer will:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines.
- Ensure the availability and quality of data.
- Optimize the performance of data processing systems.
- Interact with data scientists to understand their needs and adapt pipelines accordingly.
- Implement best development practices and monitor production systems.
Particular care will be necessary to:
- Manage large volumes of data.
- Optimize pipeline performance.
- Ensure code maintainability.
- Quickly resolve incidents.
- Continuously improve existing systems.
Hard skills:
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Proficiency in big data frameworks such as Spark and Databricks.
- Experience with data pipeline tools and ETL processes.
- Good knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, in particular AWS S3, Glue, Athena or equivalent.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- DevOps, infra as code, continuous integration and delivery concepts.
- Agile methodology.
Soft skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with data scientists and other team members.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Education and professional background:
- Master’s degree in engineering with a proven specialty in IT or equivalent.
- Previous experience in the implementation and customization of data pipelines
Languages:
- Language: English as a working language
- Language: French Mandatory
Travels:
- Occasional travels to Brussels are expected
