2. BACKGROUND

 

ENGIE is a long-term partner for Africa’s growing energy needs and a carbon-neutral economy. Our purpose is to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions.

 

Our footprint in South Africa is pre-dominantly Renewables, but we have two peaking power projects that support the stabalisation of the grid. Our purpose brings together the company, our employees, our customers, and shareholders, and reconciles economic performance with a positive impact on people and the planet, building on our key businesses to offer competitive solutions to our customers.

 

Our footprint in North Africa focuses on three countries where we have a large and growing footprint in Renewables. Our presence includes: Morocco, Egypt and Senegal .

 

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ENGIE’s presence in South Africa is already strong and is set to grow. To grow the business means that the company needs a strong communications professional to steer and navigate the communications strategy to align with the business focus, delivery and ambitions.

 

Following the integration of BTE Renewables into ENGIE South Africa, internal communications focus will be to bring the organisation together, help align and refocus. Engage individuals around the Company’s common values and that there is a genuine sense of affinity between ENGIE and all its stakeholders. ENGIE is also currently constructing three plants in South Africa.

 

The role will have a dual approach where the main focus will be on South Africa, but with a co-ordination role with North Africa.

 

  • Support the execution of the corporate communications strategy, and plan within the budget for ENGIE in South Africa
  • Bolster ENGIE’s visibility in the country, aligned with the business objectives.
  • Seek different ways to communicate regularly, be that aligned with tenders, financial closes, project milestones, project delivery, plus general busine subsidiaries, CEO communications
  • Create interest and demand through media, press releases, conferences, interviews, content management, internal communications, risk management and collaterals.
  • Support with all external events and exhibitions, including content delivery, key messages
  • Market research & competitive intelligence: - Conduct research on case studies, white papers to support the industries knowledge and understanding of the market
  • Review and recommend policy/guidelines for all media interactions in the organization for interviews, quotes, emails, and any other form of communication
  • Ability to create content through investigatory means: collaterals, films, animations, infographics, presentations, fact sheets
  • Develop and write collateral pieces, advertising, newsletters, social media, website
  • Develop executive speeches and all key messages for ENGIE speakers externally
  • Develop and oversee and deliver all digital and online media including; website, social media strategy, sponsored contents etc.
  • Create and grow strategic stakeholder relationships with external parties such as government, upc, local councils, media, customers,
  • Monitor corporate reputation and crisis communications 
  • Assist in communicating all ENGIE CSR initiatives and university institutions
  • Manage and coordinate internal communications (staff messages, events) across the ENGIE companies and businesses in South Africa
  • Custodian of the ENGIE Brand to ensure compliance with Group Brand Guidelines. 
  • Work with regional communications to stay aligned to ENGIE’s global Ambitions.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education

  • A Bachelor degree in journalism, communications, public relations or marketing
  • Excellent attention to details, being methodical and organized.

Language

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written skills)
  • Other languages would be a benefit
  • Excellent writing, spelling, editing and proofreading skills

Experience & Skills

  • + 8 years of Experience in a communications or institutional environment
  • Excellent IT skills (Office 365 including SharePoint)
  • Managed external and internal communications including all media channels
  • Understanding of local South Africa market
