What You Can Expect

As our Steam Fitter II, at The Ohio State University, with the direction of a Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor you will maintain, repair, and install system components for steam, condensate, chilled water, natural gas, heating hot water and associated components such as valves, expansion joints, flex lines, flanges, steam traps, check valves, pumps and strainers. Operate system valves for facility repairs and distribution, read and prepare sketches. Every day you will follow operating, safety and environmental standards, and you will report to the Maintenance Manager.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Journeyman license in Plumbing, welding certification or Operator Qualified in Natural Gas Systems
  • If not certified in welding or journeyman plumber license, 2 years of Steam Fitter 1 experience on campus is required
  • Work as part of a maintenance team with a goal of decreasing downtime and improving efficiency
  • Troubleshoot systems including but not limited to steam and condensate, chilled water, heating hot water and natural gas piping and settings
  • Responsible for the installation and repairing of expansion joints, valves, gaskets, steam traps, and other utilities related piping specialties and equipment
  • Install, repair, replace, maintain, inspect and modify piping systems for steam lines, condensate lines, chilled water, heating hot water and natural gas system throughout the campus distribution system
  • Read drawings, complete layouts, cut/join and fit pipe , and perform pipefitting and welding operations as required
  • Able to work a 10hr day shift (6AM-4:30PM). This shift will rotate and will rotate through a Monday-Thursday and a Tuesday-Friday schedule
  • Other duties as assigned by management related to safe plant operations, maintenance, reliability, and training while fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite 
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/will drive company vehicle on campus
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing 
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies 
  • The position consists of 85% work indoors and 15% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions 
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $33.00 USD hourly
