What You Can Expect

As our Stationary Engineer I in Columbus, OH at The Ohio State University, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating all utility plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Every day you will monitor and regulate the operation/performance of plant machinery and equipment which may include but not limited to natural gas/oil fired boilers, turbines, emergency diesel generators, chillers, air compressors, pumps, electric motors, fans, piping systems, water treatment and any other equipment related to campus utility systems, and you will report to the Shift Supervisor.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • You must have a State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer’s License
  • You will take plant readings, monitoring utility system performance, conducting water testing and making changes as necessary to provide reliable and efficient plant operations; and complete logs and record keeping
  • You will gather information relevant to previous shift and deliver relevant information to oncoming shift.
  • You will assist in training new engineers
  • You will respond to alarms and utility system conditions and performs troubleshooting and inspection activities
  • You will complete startup, shutdown and Lock Out/Tagout of equipment
  • You are confident in reviewing plant SOP’s and other training material
  • You will operate current and future utility plant equipment including but not limited to boilers, turbines, chillers, air compressors, emergency generators and associated equipment
  • You will maintain and clean plant equipment and building 
  • You will work 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM), every other weekends and holidays

 

 

Additional Details

  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite 
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Will drive company car on campus
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing 
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies 
  • The position consists of 90% work indoors and 10% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions 
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs 

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range:  $36.75 USD hourly

 

Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by CWA 4501. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the “CBA”) between the Company and the union. 

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for emergency or on-call pay.
