Tractebel Inc.’s (Canada) team is growing, and we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer who brings a strong civil engineering expertise from projects such as industrial, nuclear power generation, hydropower, transportation and electricity transmission and distribution. The role is based in Markham with a plan to relocate to downtown Toronto.

Daily, you will carry out the design and calculations of nuclear or hydro related structures and buildings subjected to internal and external hazards. You’ll perform expert technical analysis regarding design of reinforced concrete structures. You’ll perform structural analyses using finite element method (FEM) code. You’ll perform the dynamic analysis of nuclear or hydraulic structures and components to various hazards: earthquakes, gas explosion, tornado, plane crash accident, high wave impact. You will endeavour to anticipate problems and project needs regarding civil engineering;  participate in the writing of technical specifications (design requirements) and the review of technical documents issued by the Contractor. You will oversee the and check calculation notes of less experienced engineers in accordance to the QA policy of the company, and regularly participate and present in technical meetings in front of peers, partners, clients and suppliers.  You will work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client’s requirements; and develop a full understanding of, and align with, Tractebel governance and standard working practices, strategies & objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver competitive and compliant proposals, and work closely with the Lead Civil Engineer on projects to develop civil engineering deliverables.

What You’ll Bring

  • You must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • You must possess a minimum of five(5) years of relevant experience as a Civil Engineer including experience in an engineering consultancy (EPC) environment
  • Fluency in English is a requirement for this role
  • You will have gained experience working in a highly regulated industry based in Canada, such as nuclear or Hydroelectric.
  • Licensed (and in good standing) to practice as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario will be considered as an asset
  • Experience working with or for OPG will be considered as an asset
  • You will have demonstrated ability in conducting civil studies, performing engineering designs and evaluations, and other civil works associated with power generating or industrial facilities
  • You will have experience and demonstrated knowledge of FEM software such as Staad.Pro and SAP2000
  • You will have demonstrated experience in the applicable legislation, standards industry practices, software, and modelling tools related to the fields of engineering, construction and nuclear or hydro facility design
  • You have knowledge of civil related CSA standards and the National Building Code of Canada
  • You have excellent document preparation skills with the ability to produce quality deliverables

 

Additional Details

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • This role requires occasional travel to other Tractebel’s locations, client sites, and key industry events
  • You must have flexibility in your time schedule due to the nature of the industry and construction schedules and timelines
  • Must possess a valid Provincial license/clean driving record
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • This position requires some outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee maybe exposed to weather conditions

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $93,400.00 – $143,060.00 CAD annually

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, provincial, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
