Risk Control Specialist

As a Risk Control Specialist within GEMS, you will analyze market and credit risks across our energy portfolios, support strategic decision-making, and drive digital innovation. Your work directly protects value and empowers our commercial teams to operate with confidence in dynamic gas and power markets.
 
What You'll Do
 
- Analyze market and credit risks across S&EM, FlexGen, and Renewable portfolios, reporting findings to Energy Committees (LEMCs) and ensuring compliance with Risk Mandates.
- Monitor key risk indicators daily (VaR, Delta Position, Drawdown, HCR) within the ETRM system Aligne, ensuring data accuracy and operational integrity.
- Support the implementation of new products, business lines, and GBUs within the ETRM tool, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare collateral status reports and maintain counterparty credit rating and exposure tracking files across all Business Units.
- Design and deploy automation solutions using Python, Power Automate, Power BI, and other tools to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Document processes and policies related to Credit, Market, and Operational Risk.
- Provide risk advisory to front office and commercial teams, strengthening risk culture awareness across the organization.
 
What You Bring
 
- Degree in Engineering, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field, with specialization in the energy industry.
- At least 2 years of experience in energy risk control, market intelligence, or energy consultancy.
- Strong proficiency in Python, R, Power BI, and MS Power Automate for data analysis and process automation.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ETRM systems.
- Solid understanding of energy derivatives, market risk metrics, and credit risk frameworks.
- Advanced English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Proactive problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
