What You Can Expect

As the Solar Technician, your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems upon arrival at the solar plant in Chillicothe, OH. Your duties encompass repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will also manage documentation, update parts inventory, and as well as submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiating work orders for equipment repairs. Coordination of high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts and grounding. You will be required to adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings. While you will primarily work independently on-site, there will always be a nearby technician for safety support. The site's team comprises three (3) team members: a site manager, a Balance of Plant technician, and the solar technician. You will also be a part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of a two (2) years diploma in a technical program where you have learned AC/ DC electrical theory, and gained an understanding of how to read blueprints and schematics
  • You should have knowledge of industrial electrical equipment including breaker, disconnects, transformers, contactors  
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Solar generation sites, Wind generation sites, Thermal power plants, Manufacturing or Mining operations, or Controls & Industrial Maintenance
  • Must have or be willing to obtain certification as substation technician within 12 months of hire date
  • Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by supervisor

 

 

Additional Details

  • This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s) 
  • This role requires daily attendance at a worksite 
  • Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing 
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies 
  • The position consists of 20% work indoors and 80% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions 
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs 

 

 

Compensation

Salary Range: $34.48 – $53.74 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
