The Senior Engineer is a critical role responsible for supporting development and installation of energy conservation measures and renewable energy at large scale public sector and commercial & industries customers, with a specific focus on e-mobility for fleets. You will be working in a fast-paced, team-based environment, at the direction of the growth strategy & applications focused on new areas of growth and fostering existing one. The Project Engineer is responsible for the design of e-Mobility projects, performing site audits and fleet assessments, specifying and sizing equipment, charging infrastructure design and engineering, and completing savings calculations to support projects in development and construction. It can be part of a broader project that includes a combination of energy efficiency measures and renewable generation installations, to help different types of customers become more sustainable, save money, and improve services to their end users. Expectation is that one to several projects are supported from early development through post construction. The Project Engineer will be working in a team-based environment, at the direction of the Project Manager as well as their supervisor.
This position is located in Oakland, CA and is open to work in many locations across the U.S. and reports to the Growth Strategy & Applications Director. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days.
What you’ll do:
- Support the technical design of e-Mobility customer projects (new/existing meter, on site transformers, switch gears, distribution and charging equipment including potential on-site generation and BEES)
- Analyze utility data to verify existing customer loads, use internal fleet sizing tool to estimate future ev loads, consider rate change options, and calculate energy savings
- Perform renewable energy, including solar PV and energy storage system site surveys and understand metering and measurement tools and data
- Evaluate and recommend various types and locations of renewable energy systems and charging equipment
- Calculate potential solar generation quantities of various scenarios using the PVSyst modeling and Energy Toolbase tools
- Use internal EV fleet assessment tool to recommend charging infrastructure sizing and configuration
- Oversee Energy Conservation, Renewable Energy Measures, charging infrastructure scopes and specifications for subcontractor Request for Proposals
- Prepare utility and other incentive program applications, permit packages and customer submittals
- Support the Project and Construction Managers on job walks, bid evaluations, contractor negotiations, and during construction meetings
- Assist during the construction phase of the project by reviewing submittals, change orders, and RFI’s, and make recommendations to the Project Manager
What you bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge of utility rate schedules and utility connection
- Excellent working knowledge of EV charging infrastructure and/or solar photovoltaic systems and/or BEES including the ability to identify different systems and equipment, identify potential energy savings measures, and quantify the potential energy savings and costs
- Understanding of metering and measurement tools and the data provided
- Competent in computer modeling software programs, such as PVSyst, Energy Toolbase, and apply them in preparing savings calculations and customer deliverables
- A proficiency at computer modeling/simulation of building operation to calibrate energy consumption to utility bill data
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in report writing and correspondence
- Strong attention to detail
- A proficiency at performing load take-offs from drawings
- Superior communication skills with colleagues and customers
- Self motivator to get things done and a self-starter attitude
Additional Information/Conditions:
- Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be available to travel up-to 40% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must possess a valid U.S. drivers license / clear driving record
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to use computer, calculator, etc.
- Could involve some lifting / up to 25 lbs

- Salary Range: $79,305-$202,540 USD, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
