ENGIE North Africa is hiring a Head of BD Renewables Northern Africa. As part of team in the North Africa Region based in Casablanca, you will report to the Managing Director Renewables MENA.


Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
• Build a solid mid to long-term pipeline of renewable project opportunities in North Africa with reliable relationships with the key stakeholders
• Lead the team responsible for progressing project development(s) in the portfolio following identification and origination and prior to financial close in order to achieve the short and long-term goals of the business.
• Lead negotiations and secure land tenure agreements and necessary statutory project approvals.
• Monitor and ensure that development of pipeline assets achieve their budget, schedule and quality targets, including by identifying, mobilizing and managing resources for each project, acting as project lead and presenting to relevant steering committees.
• Participate in the business strategy, business planning and objectives setting processes.
• Manage the progression of engineering and grid connection activities in accordance with development goals and in collaboration with engineering team.
• Ensure that projects’ commercial risk and reward are correctly balanced.
• Maintain and foster knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and policy changes related to renewable energy project development, and incorporate relevant innovations and best practices into project strategies.
Education
A Master degree in Finance, Economics or Engineering.
Experience and Skills
• 10-15 years of relevant working experience within the power generation industry
• 10 years of BD experience, with demonstrable track record in the development and implementation of non-recourse financed IPPs
• Previous experience in the energy sector in Northern Africa
• Knowledge of power technologies including OCGT, CCGT, and renewables i.e. solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and water desalination (RO) technologies
• Contract negotiations skills, including negotiating partnership agreements, offtake agreements, EPC agreements and various transaction agreements
• Result-oriented, energy, enthusiastic and drive to meet personal objectives, with an open, transparent style and flexible approach.

Ability to work within tight timelines and to affirm project leadership
• International, multicultural and multidisciplinary experience.
• Strong intellectual capacity and able to deal with complexity
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, and other soft skills
including mentoring, being a team player, ability to work with diverse experts and seek consensus
• Presence and interpersonal credibility to represent ENGIE in contacts with key
stakeholders, JV partners, external organizations and/or bodies and other stakeholders Technology
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Advanced knowledge of Power Point, MS Projects and Excel
Communication and working Relationship
Internal
• All internal stakeholders of ENGIE in Northern Africa, AMEA and Renewables
• Working relationships with BD, Strategy and CSR department, project finance and financial advisory, Tax, Insurance, Engineering and Legal will be an essential requirement as part of the project development interface activities and programs.
External
The role will require various direct and indirect relationships with clients and customers,
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), contractors, consultants / advisors, lenders, competitors, system operators, regulators, as well as government and other stakeholders.
Languages
English, French, Arabic is a plus
Location/travel
• Place of residence: Casablanca, Morocco
• Frequent travel through Northern Africa, Europe and Dubaï
• Primary focus will be Northern Africa
• Contract: full time, permanent
