Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide legal assistance in all legal matters including development of green field and brown field projects, due diligence exercises, partnerships, commercial contracts and legal issues arising out of projects in execution in Malaysia.
  • Provide legal support for internal approval process of projects including drafting legal memo, participate in project review meetings, and to ensure that projects comply with the relevant policies and mandate.
  • Corporate housekeeping and company secretarial matters.
  • Drafting of policies and advise on compliance matters.
  • Ensure adequate legal reporting and sharing of knowledge within the legal line.
  • Legal research.
  • Localising (and or drafting) ethics policies for use in Malaysia.
  • Support and manage the Company’s annual ethics reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage the Company’s compliance with the ethics policies and procedures of the ENGIE group and work cooperatively with the ESEA Ethics Officer in implementing and monitoring such compliance.
  • Advising ethics correspondent on ethics related policies and queries such as the Business Consultancy Policies
  • Assist the data privacy officer of the Company on topics relating to GDPR and Data Privacy Act compliance, including reporting and impact assessment.
  • Guiding project teams on ethics related matters and process.
  • Coordinating with external ethics service providers to conduct ethics checks.
  • Manage external lawyers appointed for projects.
  • Provide general legal advice and support the day-to-day operation of the Company from the legal perspective, including providing trainings to employees on legal matters, when needed.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the General Counsel and Country General Manager on all legal matters affecting the Company, and affiliates.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • 8 to 15 years of PQE
  • Top tier corporate law firm and in house legal experience
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Malay
  • Extraordinary attention to detail. Self-motivated, diligent, independent, ability to challenge status quo and think outside of the box
  • Qualified and called to the Malaysian bar
  • Cross border work experience is a strong plus
