Context
The B2B France Controlling team is hiring a Business Controller to work on the perimeter of the Supply Portfolio Management (SPM).
The B2B France Controlling team has the responsibility to monitor the P&L of the French B2B Supply entity “Entreprises & Collectivités” – part of S&EM GBU – and ensures a correct reporting (IFRS and local GAAP) of its results.
The French B2B supply business encompasses mainly two kinds of results : the commercial margin and the result of portfolio management. The opened position focuses on the latter, and more specifically on the business of gas supply management.
The opened position covers the full aspects of the Supply Portfolio Management, namely:
- Sourcing of gas quantities to be supplied to BtB customers
- Hedging of gas volume and price risks embedded in ENGIE’s customer portfolio
- Purchases and reinvoices of gas transport capacities to the supply entities
- Purchases of gas certificates (Guaranty of Origins…) for the supply entities
The role of the Controller is twofold:
- A role of “Middle-Officer”, focused on the daily monitoring of P&L and Cash Flows generated by the Front Office
- A role of “Business Controller”, focused on the monthly financial closures and budget exercises
Role
You will be involved in the P&L monitoring of the Business Platform Downstream :
- Follow and validate on a daily basis the economic P&L with the Front-Office, report and explain the variations observed
- Have recurrent exchanges with Front-Office teams to ensure a sound understanding of portfolio structures, modelized assets and hedging strategies
- Ensure that the reported results are compliant with accounting principles
- Support the deals’ management throughout their lifecycle: discuss deal validation rules, follow invoicing issues in collaboration with the Back-Office
Monthly closing of accounts:
- Control the accounting entries in SAP
- Control the consistency between the economic P&L and the accounting P&L: building of eco-accounting bridge and investigation of unexplained deltas
Preparation of Monthly Dashboards and Business Reviews:
- Provide timely and accurate information and business reporting
- Analysis of YTD results and Best Estimates through several Key Financial Indicators (Gross Margin, Cash Flows, WCR) with the contribution of the Front-Office
Mid-Term Planification: validation and valuation of business assumptions with supply entities and Downstream Front-Office teams
Digitalization and change management: express business needs, test and provide feedback to IS teams on the softwares developed to support our processes
To fulfill your missions, you will work in close collaboration with the Front-Office team, your fellow colleague of the controlling team and also have regular contacts with Back-Office, Accounting, and Risk teams. You will notably have to:
- Handle accounting topics relating to products used for market finance such as hedges, options, etc.
- Understand the energy supply chain of gas
- Work on a trading oriented system
About you
Hard skills :
- You have advanced excel skills
- A knowledge of “business analytics” tools such as PowerBI would be an asset
- You have already an experience with SAP. Knowing consolidation softwares would be an asset
General competences
- You have a sense of analysis and synthesis
- You are rigorous
- You are proactive
- You are interested in the energy sector and the commodity markets
Education and professional experience
- You have a Master in Finance, Economics or equivalent degree
- You have a professional experience of at least 5 years
- An experience in audit or accounting (at least 2 years) would be an asset as well as an experience in the trading industry is preferred
Languages
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
