ENGIE Supply & Energy Management (SEM) is responsible for managing the portfolio of gas, electricity, congestion revenues rights and environmental products for ENGIE, across geographies. What you will do:
As a Power Trader on our CSEE desk, you will develop and execute trading strategies across Central, South-East, and relevant Western European power markets, manage proprietary positions, and support hedging strategies. The role requires a disciplined, results-driven approach and the ability to thrive in a direct, fact-based communication environment.
- You will develop and execute trading strategies aimed at generating profit and achieving financial targets, with a primary focus on Central and South-East European markets and a secondary focus on relevant West European markets.
- You will execute trading activities within approved VaR, volumetric limits, and other risk parameters, ensuring full adherence to risk mandate, compliance standards, and the applicable regulatory framework.
- You will provide market insights and strategic recommendations through analysis and active participation in team discussions on market fundamentals.
- You will provide support to trading team members in the execution of individual and joint strategies.
- You will work closely with trading team members and cross-functional colleagues to identify market opportunities and contribute to the development of new market models and trading strategies.
- You will facilitate the execution of hedging orders for the supply and asset portfolios across relevant markets.
- You will ensure the ETRM system is operated in accordance with required standards to maintain accurate trade and position representation.
- You will develop and maintain relationships with counterparties, brokers, and other market participants to facilitate trade execution and ensure relevant information flow.
Desired education, expertise, and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the energy sector;
- Fluency in English; Hungarian, or Bulgarian is considered a plus;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools;
- Ability to conduct independent market research and analysis;
- Ability to develop proprietary trading strategies and deliver positive P&L results;
- Strong risk-management discipline.
- High accountability and attention to detail;
- Ability to engage in direct, fact-based communication and feedback;
- Winning mentality with a drive to deliver strong performance;
- Ability to integrate within the team, share knowledge, and foster a positive, collaborative environment;
Represents advantage:
- Minimum 1 year experience trading CSEE power markets, exposure to German and/or Italian power markets;
- Experience with Python for data analysis, including developing and backtesting models;
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms.
