Job Description  

 

We are looking for a Senior Power System Expert, with experience on the integration of power electronics into the power system. As a Senior Power System Expert, you will contribute to the development of our power system activities. A wide range of services is offered to our clients, ranging from advanced power system studies to the review of grid codes and standards aiming at reliable and resilient energy systems.  

 

You will: 

  • Manage projects and interface with clients 

  • Lead simulation and analysis with a team of other experts 

  • Act as a subject matter expert on power electronics and HVDC matters  

  • Participate in relevant R&D activities  

 

 

The ideal candidate has a strong expertise in power systems analysis, including on the challenges related to the integration of power electronics : 

  • Modelling and validation of conventional technology and power electronics in both RMS and EMT, 

  • Expertise on the challenges related to weak grids 

  • Knowledge on inverter based resources (both grid forming and grid following technology) 

  • Running and analysing results of simulations (RMS and EMT) 

  • Expertise in conventional harmonic and EMT studies (such as energization, insulation coordination, etc). 

  • Experience in field tests specification and analysis of the measuring campaign is a plus 

  • Experience in the tuning of control loops in power systems is a plus 

  

In addition, you will be capable of preparing draft technical reports, and outlining the findings from the studies.

  • You hold a Master or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering 

  • Preferably higher degree or qualification in Power System engineering 

  • You are fluent in English. English native is a strong asset.  

  • You have at least 5 to 10 years of experience in complex Power System studies or you have worked at a transmission system operator or consultancy previously 

  • You have a deep knowledge on phasor-type simulations, operational procedures for system operators, modelling and simulation of power system assets 

  • Profound knowledge of HVDC technology 

  • You have a strong knowledge in EMT modelling and simulations 

  • Good knowledge of International Standards 

  • Experience in presenting and defending results to clients 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • You are an expert user of specific power system tools to perform simulations (e.g. PSS/E, DIgSILENT Power factory, ETAP, PSCAD, ATP, EMTP-RV…)  

  • Capable of working autonomously as well as part of a wider and geographically distributed team 

  • You are dynamic, creative, interested by high level expertise and team work 

  • You are geographically mobile for short or mid-term missions all over the world.
