Context:
The Expertise Center Global Market Analysis (GMA) is looking for a Power Market Analyst. He/She will report to the leader of market analysis for mid term power markets.
Market Analysis is an Expertise Center within S&EM with the mission to support ENGIE in succeeding the energy transition, thanks to advanced energy market knowledge. Market Analysis delivers a broad spectrum of services related to energy markets including price forecasting, supply and demand analysis, weather and climate analysis, asset valuation, strategic studies, regulatory questions and ESG requirements. Market Analysis expertise covers power and all gases from the short-term up to the long-term horizon for all core markets of ENGIE. It aims to develop state of the art methodologies to anticipate the challenges of the energy transition.
Role:
The Market Analyst will focus on the development of multi scenario fundamental power price forecast over 5 to 10 years. This project is of high importance for S&EM and Engie to improve asset & portfolio valuation, risk management and investment decision making. He/she will work closely with the Long Term Power Market Analysis and the Meteo Analysis teams who will also contribute to the project.
Main Activities
- Work closely with portfolio managers to support asset and portfolio valuation based on fundamental model resu
- Support fundamental model development and methodology to move from 5 years to long term forecas
- Collect data, monitor quality together with S&EM IS and contribute to S&EM data transformatio
- Develop and maintain analysis tools and dashboard
- Support asset and portfolio valuation methodolog
- Advice S&EM, Engie entities and top management about market evolution and the impact on asset valuation and risk managemen
- Promote team spirit and truly collaborative
Hard skills:
- Master degree or PhD in relevant area (engineering, mathematics, physics, etc)
- 3-5 years experience in power market analysis
- People and project management competences (vision, roadmap & priorities, people development, organization, team spirit, collaboration etc)
- In depth knowledge of energy markets
- Strong analytical skills, programming skills (Python), ability to build models and apply data science & machine learning to operational topics
- Experience in investment decision making and strategy, ability to translate market analyses into propositions/Strategies and to communicate them clearly
Soft skills:
- Clear and effective communication both written and verbal
- Ability to explain and convey messages about complex issues and models
- Ability to work in multi-cultural environment
- Team spirit, reactivity, creativity, initiative, autonomy, ability to cope with tight deadlines
Education and professional background:
- Master degree or PhD in relevant area (engineering, mathematics, physics, etc)
- 3-5 years experience in power market analysis
Languages:
Fluent in English
