The European Affairs Department, part of the Group Public Affairs Department in Brussel,  is seeking a full-time European Affairs Intern (M/F/X) for a period of 4 - 6 months starting in March 2026. 

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES as European Affairs Intern

 

The European Affairs Department formulates the Group’s positions on key European issues, advocates for ENGIE’s interests with European institutions, coordinates participation in professional associations at the European level, and informs internal stakeholders about current and upcoming European regulatory developments.

 

As an intern, you will actively contribute to the department’s mission, with guidance and coaching, by :

 

  • Drafting press reviews on legislative and regulatory activities of European institutions and key stakeholders relevant to ENGIE’s operations.
  • Monitoring activities of Parliamentary Committees, identifying key actors, and tracking the EU legislative calendar on topics defined by the department.
  • Supporting the department’s daily operations in response to emerging issues and needs.
  • Attending external conferences and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Conducting background research and analysis on emerging topics.
  • Drafting advocacy materials and reports.

You will be part of a dynamic team of EU Affairs members and report to Director of EU Affairs.  

 

YOUR PROFILE as European Affairs Intern

 

  • The internship must be part of an university degree program, ideally a master’s degree in European law, International Politics, European Studies or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English and French, knowledge of additional European language is an asset.
  • Specialization, experience or academic project in European/ Public affairs and/or in the energy sector. 
  • Strong communication skills (both writing and oral)  with the ability to summarize complex information.
  • Team player who can also work autonomously & proactively.

  • An unique learning experience with personal coaching in a dynamic, professional environment. These will not only help you to develop your knowledge of the functioning of the EU decision-making and lobbying activities but also will give you a chance to acquire new hard and soft skills.
  • A remuneration contribution of up to 1200 EURO per month to support your relocation and public transport subscription (our offices are less than 10 minutes from Brussels North station).

OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS

 

  • Submit your application (CV and motivation letter) by 16 January at the latest. Only applications submitted via our website will be considered.
  • First round: Short online interview via Teams with our Talent Acquisition Partner. We will assess your motivation, fit with the internship and ENGIE, academic background, and communication skills. Interviews will take place during the weeks of 21 and 28 January.
  • Second round: In-person or online interview with two members of the European Affairs Department. These interviews will be held during the week of 2 February.
  • Final decision and feedback will be communicated during the week of 9 February.
