ENGIE’s Renewable & Batteries Benelux team is looking for a Business Developer Renewable Energy & Batteries (M/F/X). In this strategic role, you will contribute to the identification, development, and realization of onshore wind and battery storage projects across Belgium and the Netherlands.

You will be part of a dynamic and ambitious team committed to achieving ENGIE’s decarbonization goals through innovative and impactful projects. You will report to the Head of Business Development for Flanders, Siegfried Vanhevel, and collaborate closely with technical, legal, and commercial teams to bring renewable energy projects to life.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES as Business Developer Renewable Energy & Batteries

  • Identify and select suitable sites for large-scale onshore wind and battery storage projects in Belgium and the Netherlands.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and spatial planning procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local authorities, industrial customers, stakeholders and grid operators.
  • Lead the permitting process and ensure alignment with legal and administrative requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support investment decisions and secure successful project delivery.
  • Support due diligence processes for potential acquisitions or partnerships.
  • Actively contribute to sector advocacy through participation in federations (e.g. VWEA, Febeg) and help shape the regulatory environment.
  • Detect and assess opportunities for the purchase or development of competitive projects in close coordination with AI&FA.

 

YOUR PROFILE as Business Developer Renewable Energy & Batteries

  • Master’s degree in a technical, legal, commercial, or financial field – or equivalent through experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project development or project management in the energy sector (experience with wind or storage projects is a strong asset).
  • Sound knowledge of spatial planning, permitting procedures, and energy policy in Belgium and/or the Netherlands.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; able to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive team player who can work independently and travel regularly within the Benelux region.
  • Passionate about sustainability and driven to make a tangible impact on the energy transition.
