Your mission
This role uniquely combines people, program, and project management responsibilities, offering a dynamic and comprehensive approach to overseeing nuclear power plant projects in the UK.
As a Deputy Director of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) Projects in the UK, you will lead and coordinate Tractebel strategic involvement in the design and construction, lifetime extension, and decommissioning of large scale nuclear power plants in the UK. This includes overseeing, in collaboration with the PMO Manager, project management excellence and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering services in the capacity of Owner’s Engineer, Architect Engineer, and/or Designer.
Your key responsibilities
- Assist in defining and implementing Tractebel's strategic approach to NPP projects in the UK, in collaboration with clients and key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and communication strategies, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
- Facilitate regular project reviews and status meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among project teams and stakeholders.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and costs are controlled. Optimize resource allocation, increase project revenues, and mitigate financial risks to enhance profitability.
- Supervise the delivery of project management and engineering services, including Owner’s or Architect Engineer missions, basic and/or detailed design, safety analysis, licensing support, procurement and contract management support, and site execution follow-up.
- Work closely with the Business Development & Sales teams to achieve project-specific objectives.
- Support the centralized Business Development team in the seamless transfer of opportunities from identification stage to bidding stage, in cooperation with the Sales team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships and proximity with clients, government agencies, national nuclear safety authorities, and industry partners.
- Provide strategic advice and technical leadership to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
We would love to hear from people with
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fields.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of project management experience in major nuclear projects, ideally with exposure to new-build or EPR projects (e.g., Hinkley Point C or similar).
- Proven track record in managing large, complex, multi-stakeholder projects in highly regulated industries, preferably nuclear.
- Experience in leading production teams and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and subcontract management.
- Deep understanding of British nuclear industry, nuclear safety, licensing, and construction standards (e.g., RCC, ASME, IAEA).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project budgets, control costs, optimize resource allocation, increase project revenues, conduct financial analysis and reporting, and mitigate financial risks to enhance project profitability.

- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and the ability to engage effectively with multicultural stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in French is an asset.

- Diplomatic and proactive approach to managing conflicts and complex team dynamics in high-pressure environments.
