The primary objective of the Business Development Manager’s (BDM) role is to generate commodity sales for ENGIE Retail energy business entity products to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers. The BDM will use their knowledge of the market and competitors to prospect and acquire new C&I customers within the NEPOOL and New England markets.

 

This position reports to the NEPOOL/New England Sales Director and can sit in MA, CT, MN, NH, or RI. This position is eligible for a hybrid working schedule.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Prospect and acquire new C&I customers within New England (CT, MA, NH, ME, RI) region by networking, cold calling, using social media, and/or other means to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Establish strong direct and indirect relationships to acquire and retain a book of business to meet and exceed goals
  • Develop sales plans and strategies to increase regional third-party business and coordinate these efforts with other regional owners to maximize the business throughout the territories we serve
  • Use knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Assess customer needs and propose offerings to meet and exceed those needs
  • Break down supply proposals to ensure a like to like comparison by having a thorough understanding of the regional market, its competitors, energy components and product offerings
  • Coordinate and manage various internal processes and resources to close transactions (Legal, Credit, Supply, Business Controls and Operations)
  • Collaborate with members of the Key Account team on transactions involving key customers to improve odds of success
  • Support marketing activity by staffing key industry events in the region
  • Gather, record, and provide timely market feedback on deal competitiveness, our competitors, markets, and third-party activity
  • Complete all trainings aligned with the position
  • Function as a team member with all employees of ENGIE staff
  • Comply with all ENGIE policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four-year degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Minimum five (5) years of sales experience, preference within the retail energy industry
  • Retail Energy experience
  • Effective communication skills; must be able to effectively write proposals and presentations
  • Persuasive negotiation, cold calling, and prospecting skills
  • Self-driven individual capable of quickly learning new products, processes, and systems
  • Demonstrated ability calling on and selling to executive level decision makers
  • Ability to travel via airplane, car, train as required
  • Manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

 

Additional Information/Conditions:

  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be available to travel up to 15% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for travel and car rentals
  • Must have the ability to travel domestically on limited occasions
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Ability to use a company computer to communicate via email and create presentations

  • Salary Range: USD $79,305.00-$202,540.00, annually 
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors 
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan
