Senior IT Project Manager Energy Trading (m/f/d)

We are looking for a Senior IT Project Manager with a strong mix of business analysis, project management, and technical expertise to drive digitalisation initiatives in the energy trading environment.

In this role, you will work closely with trading desks, business teams, operations, IT, and external partners. You thrive in complex, multi-stakeholder setups, enjoy translating business challenges into pragmatic technical solutions, and feel comfortable navigating changing requirements and constraints.

Experience in the energy sector, particularly in supply, flexibility (FLEX) and battery energy storage systems (BESS), is a strong advantage.

Your responsibilities:

Stakeholder Interaction & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Manage digitalization projects in energy trading between different stakeholders (local and global) with an end2end process mindset, including documentation, reporting and communication
• Transfer business challenge into functional and technical requirements, evaluate internal and external options and design end2end realistic, technically feasible solutions
• Bridge the gap between business and IT by acting as a technical sparring partner for both sides

Technical Implementation & Integration Work

• Lead projects through the development or implementation phase, ensure proper testing, secure Go Lives and handover to operations
• Interact with energy market data, schedules, consumption time series, asset data or settlement processes
• Combine project management with hands-on execution: Implement and use smaller Python-based ETL and integration logic independently, and use Azure components such as API Management, Application Insights, and Key Vault for secure and observable integrations
• Perform structured testing, Go Lives, Hypercare and Handover to operations

Your profile:

• >5 years of experience in IT project management, IT consulting or data engineering and integration, ideally in the energy sector with a strong technical affinity
• Experience with user stories, process modeling (BPMN), and concept creation
• Strong communication on all hierarchy levels and senior project management skills, especially in multi-stakeholder environments

• Pragmatic coding skills: Solid Python/SQL knowledge, to independently solve smaller technical challenges or build prototypes, experience with REST APIs, SFTP, script-based automation, GitHub workflows

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable project management tools
• Practical experience with Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe is a plus
• The openness to being on call on the weekend every 4-6th week will be a plus
• English fluency, German is an advantage
