GBS is the ENGIE’s Support Function operational arm. We are a transversal entity that is at the center of many operational processes for which we have tons of DATA flowing into our hands.

To strengthen our DATA capabilities in GBS, we’re setting up a GBS DATA Engine, made of key DATA Experts who will cover the whole spectrum of DATA value chain, from ingestion, transformation to insightful visuals for the business (including Build (project) and Run).

This exciting job is key in the DATA driven approach that GBS aims.

The Senior DATA Engineer will be closely working with the data visualization expert, the products owners, data officers, business stakeholders and operations in GBS organization and/or corporate level to secure and deliver new and existing end-to-end solutions for the business.

Many applications already exists and needs to be secured before we move to the second part of our DATA journey.

This job is based in Bucharest (GBS Romania), with 3 days/week on site minimum according to our hybrid model.

 

What you will do:

As Senior DATA Engineer expert, you focus on ingesting, preparing and transforming the data to further exploit it from a data visualization point of view, or data product point of view. You act as the technical spoc and strongly collaborate with your peers, in order to achieve the expected results.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Ingestion, transformation and delivery :
    • From DATA ingestion to Data readiness for visualization purposes (and sometimes in data product approach) you autonomously cover all the steps like transformation, automation, lifecycle and maintenance, with a sense of efficiency, quality and technical performance, while providing proactive operational support or upon request.
    • As such you strongly collaborate with the visualization expert, to ensure a smooth, qualitative and robust end-to-end delivery
  • Transform & Design DATA for the business:  Setup, manage and maintain data pipelines, datasets and data transformations to reach purposeful data for the business, with as much as possible automated workflow & tasks
  • Embark the automation reflexes, to optimize from the start your workload to ensure a cost-effective delivery, and reduce manual intervention
  • Take end-to-end operational ownership across the GBS organization (in the business lines and in GBS IT), to:
    • Ensure cross-functional relations and strong collaboration with key partners and stakeholders
    • Ensure the right flow of communication, at the right level and at the right time
    • Respect overall compliance with our Operating Models (cybersecurity, privacy, data lifecycle, data governance, …)
    • Monitor and drive data quality, data integrity, data privacy and cleansing
    • Monitor and drive SecOps compliance, FinOps optimization
  • Continuously improve: the overall DATA value chain of your solution and regularly propose processes and tooling improvement to seek improvement where possible
  • Formalize and keep up-to-date the overall architecture design of your solution

 

Desired education, expertise, and skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
  • A minimum of 5years of experience as Data Engineer, with a demonstrated value creation for the business
  • Previous exposure to project management and agile methods
  • Previous experience with any of the following functions: Finance, Procurement, Marketing, HR, Real Estate, IT
  • Previous experience in an international context
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services, and Dataiku platforms, datalake approaches and data transformation, with a previous exposure to Databricks
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, R, Spark
  • Hands-on experience with SecOps and FinOps monitoring, corrective actions and reporting
  • Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, ML, LLM is considered a plus
  • Familiar with CI/CD processes
  • Proficiency with classic development and collaboration tools such as GitHub, Jira and other Atlassian products, and modern AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot for code suggestions and productivity enhancement.
  • In depth knowledge of Collibra, with previous concrete experience, any other cataloging initiative/tooling experience is a plus
  • Proficient in English, in a French is considered a plus
  • Past experience with MicroStrategy is considered a plus
  • Past experience with Power Bi development including the development languages like DAX, Power Query, and M language scripting is considered a plus
  • Past experience with automation around the data solutions, using Power Automate is considered a plus
  • Past experience with full stack web development is considered a plus
  • Past experience with leveraging AI for DATA and vice versa is considered a plus
  • Past experience with DATA Governance and DATA quality is considered a plus
