At ENGIE, we believe that reliable, secure networks are the backbone of the energy transition. Every connection we protect, every incident we resolve, helps keep critical infrastructure running for millions of people.
As a NOC L2.1 Monitoring Engineer based in Bucharest, you join a team of over 40 network professionals. You play a frontline role in keeping ENGIE's global network and security infrastructure healthy, visible, and responsive.
What You'll Do
- Monitor network and security infrastructure in real time using tools such as Spectrum, Cacti, and Syslog, ensuring every critical alarm is tracked and actioned.
- Receive, qualify, and dispatch incident tickets from the Service Desk and Global Coordination Center, improving data quality and assigning cases to the right engineers.
- Perform first-level technical analysis on device status and coordinate on-site checks with local contacts when devices are unreachable.
- Identify common root causes across multiple incidents and link related tickets to support faster resolution.
- Open incidents in provider portals when required, particularly for telecom link issues.
- Manage maintenance windows in monitoring tools during change implementation and apply standard changes following defined SOPs.
- Collaborate with the network tooling team to continuously improve monitoring quality and detection accuracy.
What You Bring
- Junior-level knowledge of network fundamentals, including IP addressing, routing, and the role of different network devices (1 to 2 years of experience).
- Hands-on familiarity with monitoring tools such as Spectrum, Cacti, or Syslog.
- Experience using ticketing systems, ideally ServiceNow, to manage and track incidents.
- Basic understanding of Cisco LAN and Wi-Fi operations, as well as DNS and DHCP.
- Awareness of ITIL standards and how they apply to incident and change management.
- Strong communication skills in English (minimum B1 level), written and spoken.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a genuine commitment to service quality and continuous learning.
Location
Matei Millo 6, Bucharest, Romania. This role is on-site at our NOC facility, where monitoring tools are displayed on a large real-time wall. Remote work is available for this position. Occasional travel may be required. Working shifts are defined and communicated by the manager. Each team member is expected to arrive 15 minutes before and stay 15 minutes after their shift to ensure a smooth handover with colleagues.
What We Offer
- A stimulating technical environment where you monitor live, global infrastructure across cloud, data center, and remote sites.
- A diverse range of missions spanning incident management, change coordination, and tooling improvement, keeping every day varied and engaging.
- A friendly, collaborative team of over 40 professionals who support each other and share knowledge openly.
- Real opportunities for career growth within ENGIE's GBS IT division, with a clear path toward more advanced network engineering roles.
- A structured onboarding and a culture that values personal development, curiosity, and initiative.
- Flexibility within a shift-based schedule designed to support work-life balance while maintaining service continuity.
Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
