Your mission   

 

As Senior Engineer Fuel & Neutronicsin our Nuclear department you will contribute to our mission everyday by joining the Core and Fuel Studies" Group within the “Nuclear Processes" Competence Centre is in charge of the Tractebel activities related to the fuel cycle, core design, fuel safety evaluation and core exploitation support for nuclear reactors for the Belgian Utility.
The group is subdivided into three operational subgroups, each one under the responsibility of a sub-group leader :

  1. Cycles Studies, incorporating Cycle Studies activities
  2. Neutronic studies & Tools: incorporating all activities related to Criticality, Shielding, Activation, Residual Heat
  3. Core Multiphysics, Methods & Support

Your key responsibilities   
 
In the Core and Fuel group, you will be in charge of core and fuel physics studies and associated developments in the domains of Fuel and/or neutronics activities and/or core Multiphysics.
The main tasks in these areas are:

  • Engineering studies in the domain of core and fuel physics using industry-standard methods and simulation tools;
  • Provide expertise and participate to the developments of core and fuel activities in the field of fuel behaviour and/or core neutronics and/or thermal-hydraulics, including multiphysics approaches;
  • Ensure technical coordination across various areas of expertises and participate in drafting call for tenders;
  • Provide training on various areas of expertise;
  • Regularly report to the Group Manager on all aspects of the relevant domain.

 
We would love to hear from people with  
 

  • You are a civil or industrial engineer, specialized in nuclear energy, physics or electromechanics, or B.Sc. in physics.
  • You have experience of 5-10 years in the nuclear fuel and core physics
  • You are interested in widening your technical competences across various disciplines of core physics 
  • Expertise in SMR, Gen 4 reactors, fast reactors is an asset
