Thanks to a strong increase in business activity, we are currently recruiting a fulltime Nuclear Engineer Radiation Protection for a permanent position in our Brussels HQ, Namur, Hasselt or Ghent office (partial homework possible).

Function

As Nuclear Engineer Radiation Protection & Monitoring you will join our dynamic team which is responsible for the engineering works related to Radiation Protection & Monitoring, Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Decommissioning. In close collaboration with your colleagues, your Group Manager and the Project Manager, you conduct Engineering Studies in the field of Radiation Protection, Radiological Characterization and/or Radiation Monitoring. You will mainly work from the office (with the possibility to do partial homework), some projects might require on-site interventions.

Core responsibilities

Technical expertise

• Radiation Shielding calculations and ALARA follow-up of nuclear installations, with computer codes such as Microshield, MCNP and RayXpert;
• Co-development (with senior experts) of waste characterization methodologies and contribution to the subsequent measurement campaigns;
• Writing technical specifications, technical follow-up of contracts and commissioning of Radiation Monitoring systems.

Collaboration

• Verify the technical work performed by your peers;
• Provide regular feedback about ongoing activities;
• Actively engage in knowledge sharing with others;
• Working in close relationship with the final Client and interact with Safety Authorities and Radioactive Waste Management Agencies.

Working environment

Within the Tractebel Business Area Global Nuclear, you will join one of our technical departments which is managed by the Head of Métier and the Group Managers. Together with the engineers in the teams, we cover all Engineering aspects in the field of:

• Radiation Protection, Radiological Characterization and Radiation Monitoring;
• Radioactive Waste Management (both waste from operational and from dismantling operations);
• Nuclear Decommissioning Processes (preparation of the dismantling of the Belgian Nuclear Power Plants).

Your profile 

Minimum requirements:

• a Master degree in Engineering / Sciences, preferably in physics;
• Language: (French or Dutch) and English;
• Knowledge of the Belgian Nuclear Ecosystem;
• Working principles of a Nuclear Power Plant (type Pressurized Water Reactor);
• Knowledge about Radiological Characterization is an asset;
• Working Experience in the nuclear sector is an asset.
