Context:
The Expertise Center MAS and the Business Platform Power Trading and Commercial are looking for a Head of Renewables Trading desk.
GEMS is at the heart of ENGIE’s power activities. It’s providing hedging solutions for renewable, thermal assets and downstream customers. Our objective is “to accelerate the energy transition through market solutions”.
The Renewables Trading desk located in Business Platform PT&C is managing a wind and solar portfolio of around 10 GW in Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands both for own assets as for 3th party developers. The desk continuously strives for excellence on renewables energy management through systems, models and risk management expertise and aims to grow the portfolio which is in line with the group’s ambition.
Role & main activities:
As Head of Renewables Trading in the Renewables Trading team we expect you to :
- Manage a team of Renewables Traders and organize the work
- Have the end responsibility of the desk PnL and actively report on the activity towards management
- be Pnl driven, respectful of your team’s risk and trader mandate and take action when needed
- be an excellent team player, within your own team and across others (STT, ABT, QRM, origination, structuring, RES Operations…)
- show a continuous drive to grow the business and to implement profitable trading strategies that protects the value at inception
- collaborate on day-ahead biddings
- deep understanding of data and pricing models and required tools used for the activity
- feel accountable of the full value chain of the Renewables business (including operations and invoicing) as they impact the PnL
- Drive the development of flexibility solutions in coordination with ABT to manage the intermittency of the portfolio in a cost-effective manner

Education and professional background:
- Master in Engineering (preferred); master in business or economics
- Experience in the energy sector for at least 5 years, with a focus on electricity wholesale market and renewable business
Languages:
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in French, Dutch and/or German is recommended but not strictly necessary
Travels: Occasional travel
