Context:
Within GEMS, the Risk Expertise Center’s purpose is to, on one hand, advise and help the Business Platforms in optimizing their activities making sure it respects all the rules and limits, and on the other hand, to manage, monitor and control the risks that GEMS is facing globally in its commercial and energy management activities.
Role:
As Head of Market Risk CWE Green Power and BESS, you will report to the Europe CRO and you will be in charge of the following (main) missions:
- HR manager of the Green Power + BESS Risk Analysts in your team (including Objectives Setting, Performance Reviews, Career Interviews,…);
- Calibrate local Green Power + BESS Risk limits for CWE (incl. Poland)
- Monitor local CWE (incl. Poland) Green Power + BESS Risk mandates and manage breaches;
- Proactive and constructive challenge of Front Office hedging strategies ensuring we reach an optimal risk/reward ratio in line with risk appetite;
- Review risk profile and profitability of special deals requesting an Origination Committee validation
- Support Engie Renewable Business Unit (RGBU) for the calibration of its market risk limits for CWE and Europe, for the Monthly Monitoring of the R-GBU Risk Mandates in CWE countries & EU global mandate and attend CWE monthly R-LEM’s;
- Control the different parameters used for the valuations (incl. provisions) and risk metrics of Green PPA’s and BESS for EU
- Maintain and improve Market Risk tools and reporting templates for GEMS (EU) and RGBU (CWE and EU).
- Cooperate closely with Transversal Market risk to ensure coherent implementation of the global market green risk framework

Education and professional background:
- You have a university degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, science, economics,…);
- You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the renewable energy field;
Languages:
- You are fluent in English;
Travels:
The position is based in Brussels, with frequent travels in all locations where GEMS is implemented.
