BIM Modeller / Lay-out Designer
Brussels
Your mission
As BIM Modeller / Lay-out Designer in our Belgian Lay-out Design Team you will contribute to our mission everyday by playing a crucial role in developing optimal layout solutions and implementing them in BIM models and drawings.
The "Belgian Lay-out Design Team", which is part of the “Drafting and Lay-out Group” and the Métier Engineering Management and Process of the GAS, ENERGIE and NUCLEAR Business Area, provides engineering and consulting services in:
• Layout: integration of input from different technical disciplines and coordination of draftsmen to achieve an optimum spatial arrangement for a new facility or modifications to existing plants, taking into account all project constraints including safety, constructability, economics, operations, maintenance, etc;
• Drafting: development of drawings of technical solutions (BIM3D models, 2D implantation drawings, Civil Works guide drawings, Site Plot Plans, piping isometrics, PID, etc).
The key competences of the “Plant Lay-out & Integration” Group are related to:
• Design assessment of Generation III, IV reactors and Small Modular Reactor (SMR) designs;
• Engineering and Consulting services for Nuclear New Build projects (siting, licensing, design, lay-out, Owner requirements, Bid Invitation Specifications, EPC Contract Development, etc);
• Design and construction of complex plant modifications and new facilities at operating Nuclear Power Plant units (e.g. spent fuel storage facilities, waste management facilities, Long Term Operation and Post-Fukushima modifications, Containment Filter Venting System, new bunkerised facilities, etc);
• Lay-out development and Drafting for:
o Nuclear projects (see hereabove);
o International Gas Projects (e.g. new LNG Terminals);
o National and International Conventional Power projects (Combined Cycle Power Plants, Wind Turbine, Biomass Power Plants, Coal Fired Power Plants, Diesel Engines Power Plants) and Industry projects (e.g. pharmaceutical industry).
Are you ready to make a difference? Then we look forward to meeting you!

Your key responsibilities
Building Information Model (BIM) is a collaborative process involving the creation and management of an integrated digital representation (BIM Models) of the physical (CAD) and functional characteristics (Data / Documents) of a building or facility, including its systems, structures, and components.
The BIM Modeller – Lay-out Designer is generally responsible for developing optimal lay-out solutions and implementing them in BIM models and drawings. This role includes the following tasks:
• Site visits / walkdowns: preparation, execution, and reporting;
• Development of optimal layout solutions;
• Development and updating of the BIM model (CAD and functional data) in accordance with project requirements;
• Interference management and delivery of collision reports;
• Extraction of data from the BIM model to generate necessary lists of BOP SSC and Bills of Materials/Quantities;
• Development of drawings based on the BIM model:
o Site implantation drawings / plot plans;
o Equipment implantation drawings (mechanical, electrical, I&C);
o Cable routing implantation drawings;
o Piping implantation drawings;
o Piping isometrics;
o Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) / Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID);
o Guide drawings for supports and anchors, mechanical equipment (cranes, tanks, etc.);
o Other drawings: construction site installation, earthworks, handling and load, road and utility networks, fire compartmentation, flowcharts, schemes, diagrams, etc.;
• Supporting the Design Team with various deliverables: layout description reports, photomontages;
• Participation in project meetings and interaction with the project team to collect, update, and present all lay-out inputs and outputs, ensuring consistency;
• Reviewing and commenting on detailed design drawings and BIM/3D models issued by contractors;
• Monitoring construction and installation activities on site;
• Tracking budget and schedule, identifying deviations from commitments.
