Occupational Safety Technician II

We are looking for an Occupational Safety Technician II to support the implementation, training, and inspection of Occupational Health and Safety activities and projects at the Company’s power plants. The goal is to ensure understanding and compliance with legal regulations and company guidelines, reduce accidents and illnesses, and improve the quality of life for both employees and contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure and supervise work activities at power plants and/or construction sites.
  • Authorize and monitor work fronts in critical activities such as working at heights, confined spaces, among others.
  • Assist, support, and monitor the management of the Internal Accident Prevention Commission (CIPA), as well as the fire brigade and first aid teams, and lead the Emergency Action Plan (PAE).
  • Monitor and carry out local activities related to the evaluation process of contracted companies in accordance with the company’s corporate health and safety rules.
  • Inspect and, when necessary, shut down equipment or facilities (owned or contracted) due to serious and imminent risks.
  • Comply with and enforce the Regulatory Standards of the Ministry of Labor and Employment related to occupational health and safety.
  • Train employees and contractors on topics related to the area of expertise.
  • Prepare and monitor safety statistics (KPIs).
  • Analyze incidents and accidents, involving other employees when necessary, and prepare statistics and indicator reports.
  • Carry out local actions necessary to obtain and maintain health and safety certifications.
  • Participate in the preparation of terms of reference, technical specifications, and descriptive reports, and analyze received proposals, contributing to supplier selection processes.
  • Conduct or participate in workplace health and safety audits, follow up on outcomes, analyze, issue, and monitor action plans.
  • Report accidents and HIPO events (high-potential incidents or accidents) to the corporate team.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Completed technical education in Occupational Safety.
  • Category B driver’s license.
  • Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, internet, and email.
  • Previous experience in risk areas.
  • Knowledge in conflict management and resolution.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodology.
  • Strong writing skills and good interpretation of regulations.
  • Prior knowledge of:
    • ISO 45001;
    • Legal Requirements; and
    • Regulatory Standards (NRs): 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 33, 35.

Knowledge of ISO 55001 will be considered a plus.
