At ENGIE, great adventures always start with a simple "hello" and the desire to take action for tomorrow. If, like us, you strongly believe the energy transition holds opportunities for you and for everyone, then look no further, you belong with us!

Our goal is to be the best energy transition utility, and we have an ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2045. In Australia, this includes flexible power generation, energy retail services for homes and businesses, advanced energy management solutions, and a growing portfolio of future-focused projects — from hydrogen and battery storage to wind and solar developments.

About the Role

Join ENGIE as a Project Controller and play a key role in delivering the Pelican Point Battery Energy Storage System (PP-BESS) project safely, on time, and within budget. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s leading renewable energy initiatives within our Renewables & Flexible Power business unit.

This is a Fixed-Term Contract role intended to support key deliverables over an estimated period of approximately 18–24 months, the role can be based at our Melbourne corporate office or on site at Pelican Point. Please note that while the role is project-driven, timelines may shift based on business needs.

You will support the Project Management and Delivery team across all phases of the project—from financial close through to commissioning and handover to operations. Your focus will be on project controls, cost management, scheduling, and reporting, ensuring compliance with ENGIE’s Project Management Office standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project controls, budgets, schedules, and performance reporting.
  • Administering supplier and contractor claims, variations, and payments.
  • Coordinating monthly schedule updates and cost forecasting.
  • Supporting risk management and contract administration.
  • Maintaining quality assurance and document control systems.
  • Driving continuous improvement and best practice in project delivery.

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in project controls and contract management. You thrive in dynamic environments, balancing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and delivering results.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Business, Contract Administration, or Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Practical experience in budget management, schedule development, cost control, and claims administration.
  • A solid understanding of contract management principles, including variations and dispute resolution.
  • Confidence in managing change control processes and working within a matrix management structure.
  • Advanced skills in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and strong digital literacy.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for developing innovative, workable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling you to influence and work effectively across all levels of the organisation.
