Meet our colleagues Project Managers

Rob : “Growth opportunities for ambitious employees”

‘Together with seven other colleagues, I’m ultimately responsible for a number of projects from tendering phase until delivery. I also supervise the research department in the field of engineering and finance. We always take care of the electromechanical aspects of projects.’ Examples of renovation or new build projects include movable bridges, such as the London Bridge and Mexico Bridge in Antwerp, and the Zandvliet Lock and Berendrecht Lock in the Port of Antwerp.

Rob is very happy with the opportunities he has at ENGIE. ‘You’re not just thrown to the lions; I was given the chance of promotion to my current role thanks to the training I received. I started as a Project Site Coordinator before becoming Project Manager.’ Rob has followed various courses over the past few years. ‘The ENGIE University has lots of training opportunities for anyone who is ambitious. I’ve followed a financial management course and another one on people management, which focused on communication on site.’

The great working atmosphere is a big bonus for Rob. ‘You’re not just a number at ENGIE. We’re part of a bigger whole, so our department feels more like an SME. The personal contact with a team of permanent employees ensures a really great atmosphere. I’ve built a up a really good network within the company over the past few years, which can only be positive for the further development of my career at ENGIE.’

Sabinne : “I love the diversity of my work, every day is different”

I manage a team of four project engineers and around 40 team members at ENGIE Fabricom. I have twelve regular clients, mainly in the industrial sector, and a broad range of duties including everything from quotations, orders, site visits and financial monitoring to recruiting new personnel.

I worked at ENGIE for eleven years after graduating, and am now back again after 18 years. I didn’t hesitate for a moment. The atmosphere here is really great. I enjoy having contact with customers and the fact that we work on such a wide range of projects. The commitment to sustainable energy here means there are always new and varied projects, such as the solar panel park we’re building in Lommel which is the biggest in Benelux. ENGIE is also helping with work on small wind turbines for farmers, sustainable mobility solutions and intelligent energy use.

ENGIE wants Belgium to be a frontrunner in the field of energy efficiency, which is crucial for the future. So my job is very meaningful. I want and will definitely have the opportunity to keep developing in my current role, and improving my leadership and technical skills.
